Santiago de Cuba Ron Añejo 8 Años
Oak, honey and a persistent bitter-orange edge run right through this Santiago de Cuba 8. Nose brings caramel, vanilla, coffee and warm fruit; the palate is woody with burnt sugar and a touch of spice. Several tasters call it soft and easy but a little thin — the short finish means the flavor comes and goes fast. A classic light Cuban style.

Aggregated from 79 community reviews.
Soft, woody Cuban with bitter-orange edge Well-liked as an easy, woody Cuban sipper with caramel, coffee and orange. Most agree it's pleasant but light — short finish and a bitter-orange note that not everyone loves.

Bitter orange aftertaste not a big fan, very good value if you like orange

Overall an quite OK rum from Cuba Ron S.A., that’s aged for 8 years in old oak casks and bottled without any additives. The nose is fruity with aromas of apples, pears and Armagnac. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s fruity and nutty with flavors of apples, caramel, some licorice and bitter almonds. The latter flavor gets even more intense during the finish.

Almost the nightcap of the evening, another CubaLibre mixed with DomM from this rum. At least I think so. It tasted much better than the Cubans from Rum Artesanal. It's nice, but nothing special either. It's not really convincing neat either.

Nice fruity Cuban...

Without endulging in a large blind tasting: this one feels a bit more intense flavorwise than some other Vuban expressions of similar age. A bit more bourbon forwards with vanilla and burnt caramel. Some fruits and honey as well. Good value for money.

Spiriti, at first taste, bit flat in the taste after first minutes. Gets better by waiting

All my Tastings and Scores are purely based on “Rums under £50”. I rarely look at Rums over £50 for my YouTube.

That disturbing acidity again! Very strong smell of fermented fruit!

A more robust nose than their blanc. Spiced orange, honey and oak lead the way with dark coffee just behind. The taste follows the nose. Lots of cask influence; caramel, vanilla and honey. The finish is short. Reminds me of creme caramel. A little light for me but not bad. Sweet and easily drunk.

Subtle tastes of caramel, wood, hints spice Medium finish with a rummy kick

Well another Cuban rum to add to my rum experience Quite a soft, friendly and approachable and somewhat more complex sipper - no caramel flavours but more caramelized sugar or burnt sugar alongside Orange (bitter/peel/flesh) which was a pleasant surprise Quite round, finish is unfortunately very short - no mouth coating flavours with this one, simply in and out in terms of flavour delivery but again despite all that a very well put together rum Just misses the cut on it being a good rum - if it were thicker or more mouth coating meaning that flavour could hang around a bit more then I reckon it could’ve become a permashelf item So very close! But I like this one for sure!

The 8 Años promises more on the nose than it delivers, in my tasting. In my short time trying rum, it mixed excellent with cola, however, and the price makes it a very attractive option if you fancy something neat and easy.

Just slightly above average Cuban rum. Rums from Cuba don't do much for me, and this one is no exception. Hints of citrus wood and honey on the nose. In the taste, woody tartness and a slight sweetness. Not an interesting piece for me, unfortunately.

It’s actually a really nice rum if you like woody rum this is for you, you get the wood all the way thought from the nosing to the finish, a pleasant orangey taste a lot of caramel and honey on the nose a nice amount of warm fruit, oaky wood and a twinge of spice also on the nose. The taste is mostly wood, caramel, coffee, chocolate and when your mouth has adjusted to the taste you get a really nice spice on the sides of your tongue. Really recommend, brilliant price of only £21 in Sainsbury’s and for that much taste is amazing.

Easy drinking smooth rum. Probably as well suitable for coctails. However, didn't leave any significant impression.
