A1710 La Perle Brute 2021
Fresh-cut sugarcane, damp earth, mushroom and dried herbs pour out of the glass — an intensely vegetal white agricole with an earthy, almost truffled streak that regulars recognize as the house style. The palate turns dry, oily and peppery, with a flash of mango and a long warm finish. At 66% the alcohol is loud: several tasters loved the nose but wrestled with the heat.

Very sour, spicy, alcoholic, metallic and bitter and super sour above all. Unfortunately a flop for me

Review by TheRhumhoe
A powerful, intense white rum throughout. The nose is extremely vegetal, with aromas of earth, mushrooms, dried herbs, sugarcane and flowers. Spices and dried fruit appear after aeration. The attack on the palate is lively, sharp and very clean. The vegetal and floral side is still very present, but notes of pepper and exotic fruit (mango in particular) are more noticeable. The fruit adds a little sweetness to this extreme profile, as hot and dry as the desert. The profile is perhaps slightly unbalanced, with a surplus of alcohol a little too noticeable on the palate. The finish is very long and just as warm. The spicy, fruity and vegetal triptych is still present, with the same strength. Clearly not a rum to leave in everyone's hands, it's a little rough but would work wonders in a Ti'punch.

Too much alcohol, unluckily because nose and taste are great, whenever you're able to bypass alcohol while nosing or drinking

We keep the house's truffle flavour with a nice balance.
