Solvent, glue and briny olive hit first, then it swings meaty and cheesy — Edam, yoghurt, even bacon and BBQ sauce — before overripe tropical fruit and bubblegum crash through. Dry finish that runs for minutes. At 68.8% the alcohol sits surprisingly well; several tasters swear it doesn't drink its proof.

8,2:On the nose, medicinal with esters, glue, rubber, pungent, overripe, fermented, almost rotten berries, citrus fruits, strawberries, briny olive, meaty, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, rubber is burnt, smokiness arises, oily, dairy hints with yoghurt, cheese, grassy sugarcane with hay, flowery. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is intense, dry with medicinal notes like esters, glue, menthol hints, pungent, fermented, overripe/rotten tropical fruits, citrus and strawberry, later peaches and green fruits, sugarcane is vegetal with briny olive, grassy, flowery, meaty, peppery touch, smoky and some chocolate. 8,1:The finish is long, dry, medicinal, slightly metallic, still pungent with fermented fruits, dairy hints, vegetal sugarcane, earthy, grassy with hay, smoky, burnt, meaty with bacon, bbq.

Attention UFO! The flavors found in this rum are unusual: beacon, ketchup, barbecue ... For those who know, it reminds the Chinese baijiu: a strong alcohol of rice. Strong in alcohol (68,8), strong in ester (845), this rum is not to be put in all hands. Personally, it is too much for me.

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 4 Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Intense, floral, light olive, light glue, esters, citrus, light tomato. Palate Warm, light vegetal, floral, light olive, faint salt, light glue, esters, light tomato. Finish Very long and warm, faint smoke, light vegetal, esters, citrus. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while and while resting a perfume like smell spreads in the room.

Find ich krass gut diesen Savanna, direkt Ester und Olive in der Nase gehabt, erkennt man relativ gut als Savanna. Ansonsten noch Salzlake und Lösungsmittel in der Nase. Am Gaumen auch Olive und Salzlake, sehr grün und pflanzlich.

Kleines Savanna White HERR / Grand Arome tasting - Mai 2026 Heute der Rum mit dem höchsten ABV von 68,8%. Wunderbar eingebunden, warm und weich. An der Nase und am Gaumen ist es der extremste Rum heute, eine wilde Mischung aus fruchtigen, pflanzlichen und fleischigen Noten, dazu Unmengen von Klebstoff. Tolles Ding!

A young mountain cheese meets smoky olives in smoked brine. Somehow exciting, but not my taste profile in the end. Friends of mezcal will certainly like it. I must have bought a bottle too many.

The rums from the Savanna distillery are some of my favourites. I recommend everyone to try especially the higher ester pieces like Grand arome or HERR. You haven't felt so much fruit in a few little drops of liquid for a long time.

Thanks to Filip for providing both samples, which allowed me to make a direct comparison. This one shows a fascinating nose — hints of Edam cheese, yoghurt, a touch of solvent, meaty tones, and some berry fruit. The alcohol is nicely integrated.

Olive, cave aged blue cheese, earth and some floral notes on the nose. Bubble gum showed up after 15 minutes Has that crazy juicy fruit gum flavor and finish for minutes. Sweet up front but very dry finish Doesn't drink like 68.8 at all!
