Old Brothers Savanna 68.8 - Excellence Rhum 2019
People chasing extreme Savanna esters are the audience here: an unaged Reunion white that hits with olive, brine and glue on the nose, then swings into bubble gum and juicy tropical fruit. Several tasters clock savory oddities too — cheese, tomato, even bacon and BBQ sauce. One reviewer sums the arc up as "bon-pari into glue." Wild, salty, and not for the faint-hearted.

How does Old Brothers Savanna 68.8 - Excellence Rhum 2019 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Savory, salty white ester bomb with fruit gum Loved by ester hunters for its olive-brine-and-fruit-gum madness. A few find the savory cheese and bacon notes too much, but most call it a thrilling ride at 68.8%.

Bbq sauce, citrus zest and essential oils with a hint of hydrocarbons

02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 4 Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Intense, floral, light olive, light glue, esters, citrus, light tomato. Palate Warm, light vegetal, floral, light olive, faint salt, light glue, esters, light tomato. Finish Very long and warm, faint smoke, light vegetal, esters, citrus. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while and while resting a perfume like smell spreads in the room.

Olive, cave aged blue cheese, earth and some floral notes on the nose. Bubble gum showed up after 15 minutes Has that crazy juicy fruit gum flavor and finish for minutes. Sweet up front but very dry finish Doesn't drink like 68.8 at all!

Alcohol less well integrated than its big brother, still this taste Burger bacon, sauce bbq

Attention UFO! The flavors found in this rum are unusual: beacon, ketchup, barbecue ... For those who know, it reminds the Chinese baijiu: a strong alcohol of rice. Strong in alcohol (68,8), strong in ester (845), this rum is not to be put in all hands. Personally, it is too much for me.
