Old Brothers Savanna 55.6 - Le 1802 Monte Cristo 2006
Fifteen years resting in steel, not wood — and it shows: this is a wild, unaged-tasting Savanna HERR with no oak to tame it. Overripe pineapple, olive, brine and nail-polish esters pile up on the nose, then hit even harder on the palate with banana, anise and licorice. At 55.6% the alcohol sits surprisingly well-integrated. Loud, briny, fruity — one for ester lovers.

You can feel the unique spirit of this rum even after first opening the bottle. And the taste is 100x stronger. HERR is always strong rum with intensove taste of yellow fresh tropical fruit. Pineapple, papaya, mango. Like coloured bonbons

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is a mix of esters, vegetal olive, pineapple, pear and a little brine, quickly followed by flowery notes, marzipan, nail polish and intense, pungent, perhaps rotten red fruits like strawberry. On aeration, citrus like lemon arises, certainly strawberry is here, a molasses is grassy, spicy. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is on ester steroids. We taste a variety of different fruits like citrus, pineapple, banana, an overripe rotten version, especially strawberries, vegetal, mineral and spicy molasses brings olive, brine, earthy and flowery notes, there are smoky and confectionery notes, going very intense to chemical, alkali direction, when it settles down to pleasant nuts, licorice, anise and at last green fruits with some clove. 8:The finish is medium long, dry with mineral, vegetal molasses and spiciness, overripe tropical and red fruits, citrus and some confectionery.. Edit:17.8.25, a top combination with Sprite

#4713 28.04.2024 Unaged tasting at home while relaxing in between the sets with Hulk on bluray 😊 Nose Intense, fresh, lime, light olive, light ester, floral, light anise. Palate Fresh, light licorice, fruits, lime, solvents, light vegetal, medium dry. Finish Long and warm, fruits, light lime, medium dry, light vegetal. The empty glass has faint salt and some citrus notes.

I had no great expectations, but I have to admit that I quite liked this rum. Very intense notes on both the nose and the palate. Quite drinkable in my opinion. I could also imagine using it as a mixer.

2ie tastingA nose and a mouth ultra candy banana olive. Much rounder than at the opening. Very pleasant in the end! 1st tastingSurprising. A lot of ester. A taste similar to baijiu (Chinese strong alcohol of rice). Interesting but not to my taste.

Extremely fruity ester bomb. I would have appreciated an higher ester dose but a very pleasant rum nonetheless.

Wonderful profile! Beautiful fermented fruit. Goes in the direction of Lontan, but not quite as many esters.

This was one of my first really good yams, and it was a long time before anything topped it. The brutal nose continues with a multiply intense flavour. A fruit basket of classic, for me savannah-typical tutti fruti. Wonderful!

I hope you like ripe pineapple because it is very strong on the nose and in the mouth. A herr de savanna that has rested 15 years in stainless steel tanks is mystical! If you like finesse and balance go elsewhere, this rum is nothing but exuberance!

Very good! A bit harsh for me but frankly this HERR from Savanna rests for 15 years in lady Jeanne it is impressive!
Review by John Coffey
Different from savanna herr because it is more subtle in the end... It's less punchy but it's still very good for ester lovers
Review by matbli81
It's kinda crazy. You can love it or hate it. I still haven't decided yet. But for sure it's very interesting, intriguing and very complex. Aroma of pineapples, salt, olives with a lot of esters, nail polish and solvent but also a hint of marzipan. The taste is very difficult. Slightly sweetish with a grassy character and a rough and a bit sharp finish.

Kiwi and harlequin on the nose. Harlequin which comes back to the mouth with herbs of Provence
