CDI Boulet de Canon 11
This is rum inffused with smoked paprika ("Pimentón de la Vera"), and it dominates completything. smoke, cigar ash, sweet red pepper and a real chili burn on the palate. Several members warwarned, almost nothing of the underlying Panama Column rum survives — the smoke. Fans call it a smoked spiced experiment worth a try; purists mostly find the paprika and campfire too much. One reviewer sums it up: it barely tastes of rum.

Schmeckt nach allem Möglichen, vor allem Rauch, jedoch nicht unbedingt nach Rum. Das heißt jedoch nicht, dass der Rum durchfällt, nein, er ist für meine Sinne ein gelungenes Experiment, das nach Wiederholung ruft - anders als die Jubiläumskugel No. 10. Fazit: Wer Mut zu Überraschendem hat, der ist mit No. 11 gut bedient.

Die Infusion mit geräuchertem Paprika "Pimienton de la Vera" ist stark zu schmecken. Intensie Paprika/Chili Noten, Gegrillter Speck, Chutney, sowie leicht rauchige Whisky Noten. Persönlich hab ich ihn mir etwas fruchtiger nach Chili und Paprika erhofft und weniger rauchig aber da es über Eichenholz geräucherte Paprika ist kommt diese rauchigkeit eben auch stark zur Geltung... Wenn man ihn richtig im Mund verteilt breitet sich die Schärfe angenehm aus, könnte aber fast schon intensiver sein... Der Abgang ist mir auch viel zu kurz für eine Infusion mit so etwas intensiven. Solides Experiment aber nicht ganz so gelungen wie ich ihn mir erhofft hatte, das bekomm ich selbst besser hin...🤷🏼♂️ für mich einer der schwächsten aus der boulet Reihe.

Ca n'a pas le goût de rhum, mais on irait plus vers un whiskey. Avec son nez paprika fumé et son goût paprika sucré, il plaira plus au amateur de whisky, la prochaine fois je le goûterai lors d'un barbecue ça doit être sympa. Un pari osé mais il faut aimer les goûts un peu spéciaux.

Bei den Boulet weiß man ja, dass es krass wird. In dem Sinne enttäuscht dieser nicht. In der Nase krass rauchig und ganz extrem alte Zigarren Asche oder alte Zigarren-Kiste. Dazu leicht süßliches Paprikapilver mit Pfeffer. Hinten raus frische Pimentos. Am Gaumen dann nur noch krass grüne Paprika, Peperoni und Rauch und alte Zigarre. Richtig scharf ist er. Vom ursprünglichen Rum ist nichts mehr zu schmecken. Sicherlich mal ganz interessant, aber ich brauche das dann doch nicht.

Ja wer Rauch mag wird den hier lieben. Ich mag es eher weniger. Ich erwarte es auch eher weniger bei einem rum.

Ich kann es einfach nicht lassen, die Boulet de Canons zu probieren… Ich finde die Grundideen an sich spannend, auch wenn ich sonst zu den Rum-Puristen gehöre, aber abgesehen von Nummer 7 fande ich bisher keinen wirklich gut. Vom Rum bleibt meist nicht viel übrig und unabhängig von der eigentlichen Richtung schmecke ich bei allen nur Rauch. Vielleicht etwas für Freunde von rauchigem Whisky, ich kann damit aber nichts anfangen. Dennoch muss man neugierig bleiben (und Nummer 12 kommt bestimmt…)!
