TAST'TOE Hampden HD DOK 2009
Glue, nail polish and sour pineapple hit first — this is a Hampden DOK doing exactly what DOK does, but with a gentler hand. Several tasters call it almost elegant and less brutal than other 2009s, with overripe mango, lemon and a marzipan sweetness rounding the acid. A few wish it had one more layer; some find it a touch one-note and astringent.

Rum X Advent 9.12.22High Ester Hampden, no question. The 07 could absolutely be (Flensburg bspw). Why not a DOK as well?I have an insane amount of varnish and perfume thunder coming through. A RumClub or a TRC DOK I could also imagine well.with water it becomes rounder.

in the other glass, the DOK 2009 reference, the TRC 64.5%, from the rest of the LoM cask. The Tasttoe is absolutely on par with the TRC on the nose. On the palate, the TRC scores a bit higher with its very well integrated, slightly higher ABV that also brings a bit more intensity. The Tasttoe plays but in any case sovereign in the Champions League!

12 Jahre -wenn auch Kontinental- ist für einen DOK aber schon ganz ordentlich. Nase: intensive Ester, gelbe Zitrone vordergründig, dahinter reife, angegorene Ananas. Ein ordentlicher Schwall Frucht-Essig kommt rüber. Honig-Marzipan-Süße mildert etwas ab. Ich vermisse den feinen Klebstoff, habe stattdessen mehr Lösungsmittel und Nagellack. Aber wie erwartet eine wundervolle Aromenbombe. 8,5 Gaumen: intensiv und echt lecker. Ester total. Intensivste säuerlich-süße Ananas mit Zitrone. Wirkt sehr speckig. Süße von Ananas-Marzipsn. Leicht adstringent. Mehr kann man fast gar nicht sagen. DOK halt. Gefällt mir echt gut. 8,7

Natürlich bekommt man hier einen High-Ester Hampden. Klebstoff, Mango, Ananas, Banane... Dennoch wirkt der Rum sehr eindimensional und adstringent, aber nicht aromenintensiv am Gaumen. Der Abgang ist kurz mit einer sauren Klebstoffnote.

A well-concentrated Hampden DOK with phenolic notes and ripe tropical fruit that has a touch of floral freshness, tartness and fermented notes that round out the nose. The aromatic power returns on the palate, with citrus, tannins, acid, spice and woody touch that complement and tame the DOK's strong character. The finish, although we perceive the typical aromas already described, is relatively short and loses intensity compared to the rest. A clear rum, which can show the muscles in high ester mode but which is relatively balanced and accessible. It is however slightly effete compared to other Jamaican rums and it lacks a little something to have a great aromatic bouquet.

You can't really go far wrong with a 2009 DOK, in my opinion. In conclusion, for me a very good bottling with the Funky Hampden DOK markers. But unfortunately, it somehow lacks the final kick to be included in the top group, it seems a little too well-behaved for that.

RumX-Adventskalender 2022: Ganz angenehmer Hampden, der alle typischen DOK-Marker mitbringt. Neben Estern, tropischen Früchten und Nagellack sowie etwas vergorenem schmecke ich noch eine leicht rauchige Note im Gaumen, welche im Abgang zu Holz übergeht. Alkohol Klasse eingebunden

Wow, ein ganz toller DOK. Sehr intensiv, ohne aber so brachial zu sein wie andere DOK-Vertreter. Macht richtig Spass, die leichte Säure passt hier super. Alle typischen Aromen sind vertreten, sehr schön ausgewogen. Gefällt mir richtig gut.

Das typische DOK Profil ist zwar da aber sowohl an Nase als auch Gaumen lange nicht so komplex wie andere Vertreter dieses Vintages. Generell ist dieser DOK im Vergleich zu den anderen 2009ern eher auf der sauren Seite. Mir fehlt es an den für mich ergänzenden Aromen von Limette, Butter-brioche und vollreifen Ananas statt saurer unreifer Ananas wie hier. Meine Erwartungen waren hier deutlich höher. Die CDI 2009er sind hier deutlich spannender im Direktvergleich imho und nach wie vor Benchmark! Allerdings gefällt er mir dann im Direktvergleich zum spirit of rum DOK welcher ähnliche Eckdaten hat dann doch deutlich besser, da fruchtiger und weniger röstig und holzig!😄

In comparison with RX11273: from the start it’s more round, elegant and/or refined. Alcohol is integrated very well. A bit of dryness from the wood. After a while they come towards the same level and it becomes very hard to pick a favorite…

Concentration assez extrême mais malgré tout une grande élégance. Alcool bien intégré, longueur interminable. Acide, amer, végétal et fruité, acétique, fermentaire, gourmand, un léger boisé bousiné, des épices (curry vert)... très complet et vraiment réussi dans l'ensemble.

#5506 25.07.2025 Enjoying a few samples after coming back from the local Food Festival. Nose Intense, fruity, light wood, overripe, ester, light rubber, pineapple, light berries. Palate Intense, warm, medium spicy, light wood, ester, fruity, overripe, light rubber, light berries, citrus, light olive. Finish Long and warm, medium spicy, fruity, light oily, light pear, berries, faint leather. Empty glass Fruits, light olive, strawberry, faint chocolate, faint herbal. Needs to rest for a long time to really open up and settle properly.

Nez Jamaïquain, Hampden Dok probablement. Funky, colle et Esther tout ce à quoi a s’attend avec des fruits mûrs et de la cerise. En bouche c’est une explosion de fruits, cerise, banane, fraise, ananas, un vrai bonbon c’est très bien intégré. En finale on a une jolie cerise qui reste bien en bouche.
