Alcoholes Del Istmo Plantation Single Cask 1992
Caramel, vanilla and old oak lead here, with dried apricot, raisin and a whisky-cask edge from its Teeling finish. It's a 27-year Panama pot still at 51% — soft, oily and complex, but several tasters note the alcohol never fully settles in. Sweeter than dry, as Panama tends to be, though most agree it stays in a pleasant range.

How does Alcoholes Del Istmo Plantation Single Cask 1992 taste?
Aggregated from 44 community reviews.
Caramel-and-oak Panama with a whisky-cask twist Well-liked as a rich, balanced Panama sipper full of caramel, oak and vanilla. The recurring gripe: the 51% heat isn't perfectly integrated, leaving a little sharpness.

Of the three Panama rums tasted today, this is the best. Still sweet (just Panama...), but still within a pleasant range.

Tasted at my favorite bar in Copenhagen. The nose is rather fruity with some depth of orange and wood, though not as much as one would expect with this age. In the notes I found lemony fruits, cinnamon and vanilla

Reminds me blind of the Panama 1997 from Bellamy's Reserve. Bourbon whisky, vanilla, lots of caramel and dried fruit such as apricot and raisin, some cocoa and coconut... However, the alcohol is not ideally integrated both on the nose and in the taste, hence slight deductions. A slight sharpness and astringency lingers on the finish. This is the year I was born, so I had to try it!

Wooden, caramel, whiskey. From the nose to the taste and the finish. Complex, rich and and a great balanced flavour. Overall one of the best rums in my portfolio.

Relatively restrained on the nose, light notes of caramel, old cask/oak. On the palate, the rum is oily and mild with aromas of cask, caramel and allspice, the same in the finish! Overall an easily accessible rum without any highlights

Super smooth and kind rum. In spite of above 50% alcohol. This is a shortcoming at the same time. To me it needs some more character to take it higher. Vanilla, func, …., just something.

Typical Panama, rather on the sweet side, but nice chocolate, coconut and cookie dough. Alcohol not perfectly integrated.

Komplexer Rum, nicht zu süß. Für mich dominiert Holz, Karamell und Vanille. Bissl scharf, Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein. Insgesamt aber sehr guter Stoff :D
