Beenleigh Inner Circle Navy Strength Rum

Sip it neat with plenty of air and you get an unusual Australian: pine, herbs, wood and vanilla with a bit of banana on the nose. Several tasters call it strange in a good way — eucalyptus, licorice, "lots of pine wood," even conifer and glue notes. The palate leans woody and spicy, and at 57.2% the heat is mostly well tucked in.

Herbal, piney Australian navy-strength oddity Most find it a warming, herbal-woody oddity worth experiencing. The catch: the pine-and-eucalyptus character divides people, and a few feel it thins out and turns one-sided on the palate.

8/20 smells very good vanilla, not great in the mouth, not much taste and very strong

Strong aroma, some alcohol content. Original combination of spices, cocoa, cask, herbs, a little eucalyptus and glue. In the taste, again, you can tell that this is a younger rum, but the profile that the Velier bottling had, for example, is undeniable. The ideal is to let the rum rest longer. Beautifully warming creamy herbal finish.

A powerful Australian rum that needs aeration to express its fruity, vanilla, woody and smoky aromas. The palate is powerful, but unfortunately loses some of its aroma, with spice and wood dominating. The alcohol could also be better integrated. The finish compensates for this with a touch of freshness and roast that lingers long enough on the palate. A rum that could have more potential.

This was a surprise. I really like it and the pear part is really dominating with it’s fruitiness.

Overall a good and strong rum that’s rich with a certain warmth. The nose is quite strong with aromas of vanilla and toffee. At the palate it’s full bodied and fruity with flavors of vanilla and toffee.

Lots of pine wood and "conifere". Weird one this. Very herbal/coughing syrup vibes. Unlike any rum I ever got. Something artificially about it. Licorice. Some of the herbal notes are a bit too intense. Onesided. Tried this one loads of times. Weirdly interesting, never easy.

Rather restrained nose, on the palate then comes out a little more profile and shows in particular a pleasingly fruity-sweet banana-chocolate note next to spice and light smokiness. In addition, at least for me, a somewhat unround herbal note. The finish offers nothing new more, the dwell time is also rather clear. Solid rum, but without real fascination to tickle out.
