Plantation Stiggins‘ Fancy Pineapple Smoky Formula
Pineapple lovers curious about a smoky twist are the crowd here. It's the Stiggins' Fancy idea — grilled, candied pineapple and caramelized brown sugar — with a Teeling peated-cask finish layered on top. Some taste real campfire smoke, others get almost none, so it's a bit of a lottery. Fuller and juicier than the standard version, sweet, mild, and easy to drink.

How does Plantation Stiggins‘ Fancy Pineapple Smoky Formula taste?
Aggregated from 55 community reviews.
Sweet grilled-pineapple rum with hit-or-miss smoke Most enjoy the juicy pineapple and caramel sweetness, and several find the smoke suits it. The catch: the whisky-cask smokiness is wildly inconsistent, and a few call it too sweet and artificial.

Only marginally different from the standard Stiggins. The barrel finish adds a certain warmth to the nose. But also seems a bit juicier than the regular.Taste-wise, the finish has the effect of a note of campfire that is present throughout. You have to like it, it's a bit special. Makes then but especially pure more fun than the regular - and makes 'nen Rumgroni even better.Addendum: a little air but especially room temperature gets out here massively more!

For me, much too sweet, artificial and the teeling whiskey finish just does not fit in here at all. Extremely unharmonious and also Relativ spritzig...

So a little smoke does it amazingly well. Although I am not a fan of smoke or peat.

A nicer version of the basic Stiggins' Fancy. It is more flavorful, fuller in the body and everything but not even distantly reminiscent of smoke, peat or whisky. At all 😀. Is it a problem? Kind of, since I was excited about the smokiness or whisky aftertaste but do not get me wrong it is great, better than the regular one just not what I was expecting in terms of what has been advertised. It is little spicy in a good way, lot of sweet taste and a really prominent pineapple, not like in the regular version which seems like diluted smoky formula now. I like it. I even forgive the big fuss around the non-existent smokiness. The finish is kind of short to medium long. Also it is a little bit bitter in the aftertaste. Is that ,,it,,? The smoky formula? Charred barrel? Who knows. I like it though, it is better than it's older sibling which is more suitable to drinks and cocktails. Retaste 30.4.: F...me not sure whether it is a new glass that I have or it is because I had around 20+ rums in 24hrs but I can sense the peat now. A lot. Rest still holds true.

Peaty, whisky like finish from the Irish casks

A really very good PLV. I don't know whether it's any good as a mixer. But it can definitely be used as a party sipper with medium demands. A nice pineapple note, plenty of caramel sweetness. I don't detect any whiskey notes or smoke

Tasted today at bridge bar at first moderated rum degustation. Excellent rum with pinnaple taste, but not too sweet.

Does what it says on the tin and does it well. Nice smokiness to it which combined well with a pineapple sweetness. Enjoyable.
Review by Mark Leggett
Aromas of pineapple, caramel, oak, banana and a sweetness. Flavors of pineapple, barrel, smoke, caramel and ripe banana. Great flavor, lots going on, not too much bite, great sipper.

Erinnert direkt an gegrillte Ananas. Überraschend intensive und doch harmonisch abgestimmte Ananas- und Raucharomen. Dazu eine leckere Süße von karamellisiertem braunen Zucker, die das Finishing im Teeling-Fass gut abrundet.

Ok today something completely different... In the nose full of sweet and fruity oh wonder: pineapple and smoke. Then extremely mild in the mouth, sweetly smoky. Quite entertaining and without any special features. Short and sweet finish. Simply pineapple everywhere ... I'll try it in a few mix drinks. But it won't be a second bottle

Not remotely as pineapplly as expected. Definitely feels like plantation. Ok

Can’t wait to try in a cocktail, can’t recommend drinking neat, maybe on the rocks. It should be great as a mixer. The infusion process Plantation uses intrigues me and prompted me to increase the rating

Good but not better than the original pineapple, there is no reason to buy this more expensive bottle over the original plantation pineapple rum. Lovely pineapple taste AND SMELL. I enjoy this one also in a rum/coke
