One reviewer called it "flüssiges Gold" — and the funk crowd agrees. Nose is pure Hampden: glue, nail polish, esters and a fruit basket of pineapple and overripe tropical fruit, rounded off by 28 years of cask. Warm and dry on the palate with faint chocolate. A few taste some bitterness and tannin from the long aging, but most rate it near the top of the HD 1993 pack.

Classic high ester Hampden 😍 Lovely funky nose of ester, glue, nail polish, fruit basket and a bit of wood. Funky, dry, delicious in nose where you’ll find all the notes again. Very smooth finish. Alcohol is integrated very well. The wood is integrated in a nice way and never become rampant. Unfortunately hard to find now… the price tag exploded too…

#4808 11.08.2024 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Light wood, glue, esters, fruity, overripe, pineapple, light vegetal, faint citrus. Palate Warm, light wood, esters, light glue, fruity, overripe, light floral, faint smoke, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, light wood, faint roasted, medium dry, ester, faint chocolate, pineapple, light citrus. The empty glass has stronger chocolate and light banana.

Oh, what a fragrance! Wonderfully round and polished with age, not comparable to the C<>H from 2007 tasted previously, much more elegant and absolutely no disturbing alcohol notes. Quite sharp on the palate and lots of glue. In the finish, I can sense the long maturation from the strong barrel notes. Somehow the bitterness and tannins also bother me here. Has the rum been in the cask for too long? Nevertheless, an excellent Hampden!

What an overwhelming smell. You don't want to stop for hours. A Hampden at its best. Nail polish, esters and glue are pure funk. This is also reflected in the taste. Supplemented by pineapple and a tropical fruit basket. Long and dry finish with some cocoa. An absolute board.

Viel Leim in der Nase. Auch eine ordentliche Portion Nagellack. Schön rund und kraftvoll im Mund, bei einer insgesamt tollen Balance. Die Reifung hat gier gute Arbeit geleistet. Ester kommen in Form von Trockenheit und Säure. Schöner Brioche Geschmack. Der Abgang ist auch toll und ellenlang.

A great representative of the already very remarkable 1993 vintage. Rich fruit esters are perfectly embedded in heavy sweetness, balanced notes from the barrel round off the profile with light wood aromas, subtle roasted notes and dark spices. A great rum.

Aus einem sampler, den wir nicht sofort zuordnen konnten (Label verlustig), was aber dann doch direkt von der Nase her mehr als eindeutig . Toller High Ester Profil, fruchtig und wie oft sehr gut eingebundenen. Sehr runder und fast weicher Abgang. Ich fand ihn leicht salzig, was mein Gegenüber nicht bestätigen wollte.
