Dugas T.D.L La Maison du Rhum #4 2009
One member called it "Nice, moldy, warmed my heart in a cold Berlin weather" — which sums up its cozy TDL side well. Expect that unmistakable Trinidad mint, plus wood, tobacco, leather and a little tropical fruit and caramel. Several tasters note real smoke and even a bacon edge on the finish. It drinks lighter than its 55%, but people agree it lacks the depth of top TDL vintages.

Fantastic daily sipper with great PLV. TDL typical mint with some fruit, but more wood and spice. Nevertheless, it lacks the depth and complexity compared to the TDL top shots from the various vintages after 2000.

Exciting TDL with round sweetness, green tobacco notes as well as wood and spices, which are paired with mint flavors on the palate. Overall, an interesting, if not mind-blowing, melange that has few rough edges, making it a nice entry into the Trinidad spectrum away from the pure focus on Spanish style.

A good selection combining heaviness and freshness. In line with the TDL Excellence rum with notes of coffee and red fruits. Two nice expressions of what Trinidad can produce outside of Caroni without having to be ashamed. Superb value for money.

This release was better. A well balanced rum with a fruity nose followed by leather, caramel and vanilla after resting the wood and medicinal get clearer. The palate is also pretty good with fruit, vanilla and caramel in the front followed by tobacco, cinnamon and menthol. There is a very light note of tannins and a medicinal hint. The finish is medium long with spices and wood followed by dried fruit and tobacco. Price to quality is very good.

Nice rum, good value for money. Sweet fruity notes with some wood. Medium dry finish.

V závěru i kousek klasického trinidad koření. Moc hezké.

Nez mélasse fruitée compotee. Légèreté Bouche. Clairement crade, fumée, waouh, surprise, réduit mais efficace. Rapport qualité prix bien sympa

Quite heavy and dark TDL with lovely minty notes. It has quite short finish. Everyday sipper 👍

31-07-2025 - Rate 7.5 Tasted this bottle when it came out. Remembered it differently from this tasting. A nice TDL, but with a continental wibe over it. Nice ABV but does not taste like 55%. Very smooth and round in taste. Notes of wood, tobacco and a hint of tar. Palate the same with some leather and tropical fruit. Short finish with spices and tar.
