Sipped neat, this is a 30-year Uitvlugt that leans warm and rounded rather than dark and heavy. Expect wood, warming spice and citrus, a thread of licorice and black pepper, and a nice sweetness that balances the classic Port Mourant herbal edge. Several members note the herbal notes are dialed back here — one calls it "relatively round" for a 90s PM. Cask strength but the alcohol sits well integrated.

Solid continental PM. Comes with a nice sweetness that gives the rum a pleasant counterbalance to the classic tart Port Mourant notes.

Another example of I'm just not a fan of (especially continental matured) Guyana rum and especially uitvluigt. Apart from aniseed, licorice, some apple, green and black pepper with some chestnut honey, I can't taste much here. Alcohol is well integrated but unfortunately it's not my thing.

The price may be arguable but the quality isn't. A pretty good Uitvlugt release with light fruit and wonderful wood with some smoky notes. Complex and balanced in the overall profile and I love the warmth on the palate.

Port Mourants can be hit or miss for me as I’m no fan of the herbal notes that some of the have. The RDL lacks these notes which is a big plus for me. Complex notes of light fruit, wood, spices and a nice sweetness made the sampling of this rum a pleasure.
