New Yarmouth S.B.S Jamaica (Rombo Edition) NYE/WK 2020
Nobody who's tried this quite believes it spent only a year in the barrel. It's a proper New Yarmouth ester bomb — glue, solvent, overripe banana and tropical fruit — but the oloroso finish rounds off the edges with cooked fruit and a marzipan-like almond note. At 58.7% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated, closing on a long, warm, slightly bitter finish.

Nose: very fruity, pineable, mango Taste: a explosion with pineable, fruit, some glue long dry aftertaste A very nice rum well worth the price
Review by ElReyTristan
Incredibly, I'd never have thought that this rum had only aged for a month. It has a particularly intense Jamaican nose of esters, solvents, glue and banana. With that little extra gourmand touch of marzipan. On the palate, it's disconcertingly well-balanced for a rum that's only one year old. The 58.7* are well integrated, and the solvents and esters are clearly present, along with the greener, fresher, less gourmand almond. In fact, it's the latter that lingers with a "nice" bitterness, like when you've just bitten into a fresh, unripe almond. A wonderful discovery, and I'd be curious to know what this rum would have been like after another 4/5 years of ageing.

The first thing that surprised me was how mild or relatively mild this rum is thinking about the age and ester content. It's a true ester bomb with intensity and fruity notes as well as spices. Looooooong and warm finish. Price to quality is very good in my mind.

Typical SBS style. Young high ester rum, finished in oloroso barrel always works very well. As is the case with this one.
