Maison La Mauny Extra Old Grande Reserve
Give it 20 minutes in the glass and the solvent edge burns off, leaving an elegant, well-aged agricole: honey, candied fruit, wood, tobacco and a little cognac-cask sweetness. Several tasters call it the most characterful of the La Mauny lineup. The catch is the palate reads soft, a touch sweet, and the finish runs short for a 10-year-old.

Al naso è delicato con legno, tabacco, zucchero bruciato, cioccolato, pelle, un filo di solvente che poi sparisce e qualche frutto secco con poche spezie. Al palato è elegantemente stagionato (forse ha preso troppa ossigenazione o la bottiglia era chiusa male?), legnoso, appiccicoso e con aromi di pelle, cioccolato, tabacco, lievi spezie dolci e un po' di caramello sul finale di media lunghezza. Lascia un retrogusto secco e legnoso/sugheroso. Nel bicchiere vuoto stagionati. Il voto oscilla tra 8.6/8.7

Overall an elegant Agricole that bears traces of the aging in former Cognac casks. The nose is robust, floral and fruity with aroma of honey. At the palate and during the rather long finish it’s elegant, floral, spicy and fruity with flavors of cognac.

Nécessite une très longue aération, au moins 20 minutes dans le verre pour que le côté solvant s’amenuise pour laisser place au produit. Cependant pour 40 euros de moins je trouve que le XO est plus satisfaisant
