29.01.2022 The big Caroni tasting with old rum buddies, good food, snacks and a lot of talking about old times. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Wood, roasted, workshop, light smoke, fruity, spices, light tar and rubber. Palate Oily, wood, roasted, fruity, banana, tar, light rubber, light smoke. Finish Long and warm, oily, wood, roasted, light rubber and tar, fruits.

Very prominent Caroni nose. Caroni notes are also very present on the palate. This one feels very smooth and soft (mind you compared to other Caronis at higher ABVs) and enjoyable as long as you fancy Caroni notes. Really not bad, however, the hardcore Caroni enthusiasts may miss some punch out of this bottling

.. Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added in a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

29/11/2025: private tasting @ Olivier. To end the tasting in style, we opened this Caroni from Cadenhead's. An enjoyable Caroni with typical notes on the nose and palate, but not really dirty enough for me. Happy to have tasted this one.
