An excellent rum with tropical fruit, predominantly pineapple and banana from nose to finish. The age adds in quite a bit of wood influence throughout. You can easily tell this is a lower ester expression as it doesn’t have the funky acidic overripe fruits of other Hampden marks.

This rum, together with its Overproof brother, marking an historic moment for all rum enthusiasts loving the funky 100% pot still rum from Jamaica. Now we don’t need to buy expensive Veliers. The nose is fruity and spicy with esters. At the palate it’s complex, intense and funky with strong flavors of fruits and spices.

This is definitely a "Jamaican". Funky and fruity rum that can be both a sipper and mixer to your liking. For the price a pretty good rum. I just did another tasting of this rum and it scored a few extra points this time.

The nose on tropical fruits well candied, buttered, spicy and metallic, the whole butter vanilla brings us a pretty pastry and greedy side all that slightly wooded. After 15/20 minutes it is rather red fruits which arrive with a touch of milk chocolate. The mouth is directly fruity, metallic, spicy and greedy like the nose. The final fades on the same notes as the mouth with a small smoked, chocolate and honeyed side which come to be added. A very wise Jamaican but still very aromatic for such a low titration! 🇯🇲

Finally i had the opportunity to taste this „famous“ rum. Very good rum. It could be a high 80 rum, but the alcohol isn‘t integrated well. I can recommend it for mixing and sipping.🥃 Very good price for value 💪🏻 Nose: a lot of fruits ester, pineapple, apricot, spicy, solvents, overripe banana, leather, vanilla Mouth: dry, elegant, delicious, spicy, banana, ester, solvents, fruity, peppery, vanilla, roasted Finish: is medium long, dry, astringend, woody(oak), vanilla, nutty, honey, fruity

Une des meilleure introduction pour découvrir le monde des rhums Jamaïcain . On a beaucoup de fruit murs. Une peu d ester avec du léger solvant. Le boisé est plutôt discret pourun 8 ans. C est un peu funky , mais pas hyper exubérant. Donc facile à faire goûter.

8,8:On the nose, it opens with a gigantic fruit salad, drenched in sunshine. The very ripe exotic fruits have not yet passed the fateful stage of fermentation; they are simply gorged with sugar and develop sweet pastry aromas. These include almond powder and amarena cherry, spiced up with walnut liqueur and pine thorns. Aeration and time bring a lovely golden patina, which adds firmness and liveliness, flowery notes. That's what's needed to contain all this powerful, fragrant fruit. There's also a hint of spice, with cinnamon and vanilla taking us right back to pastry indulgence. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is well-balanced, soft, slightly toasted, but with enough strength not to get bored, a bit spicy with vanilla, other oak spice, It is very slightly coppery, salty and hooks the taste buds with greedy notes of caramelized nuts. The fruit is darker than on the nose, with blackcurrant, blueberry and more mellow, candied prunes. The rum is relatively light, with a delicate creaminess, after some rest, also herbaceous. 8,5:The finish is fine and pastry-like, dry, hovering between prunes and almonds, with a pinchof smoke. Edit: Danke @TheDunderHut endlich habe ich wieder eine Flasche vom Batch#1 und kann das richtige Foto einfügen. Für mich persönlich besser als der Batch #2 deshalb nochmal alle 2 korrigiert Für mich war er der Einstieg in die Welt des Jamaica Rums. Würde diesen auch jedem Neuling weiterempfehlen, der die Jamaica Rumwelt erkunden will. Ich persönlich finde, dass dieser ein super Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis hat. Für mich ist er mein Lieblingsersterschrittindiejamaikaweltrum und das wird er wohl auch bleiben.

Delicious Hampden but the dilution is simply too strong in the foreground here. The mouthfeel is rather watery and, in contrast to the full proof 8y, smoky and metallic notes come to the fore which I don't like so much. Definitely great as a mixer but also significantly worse than its "big brother".

Schon wesentlich bessere aus der destille probiert. Verhältnis mäßig extrem wenig ester für nen Hampden. Hier empfiehlt sich die teurere Variante mit mehr Prozenten zu kaufen. Den der hier ist kein guter Vertreter seiner Art und Verhältnismäßig flach. Wenn man das so über einen jamaikaner sagen darf 😅

Bereits vor langer Zeit verkostet und nun mal wieder dank guter Freunde im Glas gehabt. Angenehmer Hampden, natürlich nicht so intensiv wie seine hochprozentigeren Kollegen, aber immer noch ein guter Ausflug in die geschmackliche Rum-Welt Jamaicas.

Le nez est assez léger sur ce Hampden, avec des esters pas trop prononcés, beaucoup de fruits exotiques mûrs, et un marquage du fût qui apporte une bonne complexité à la fois sur les fleurs capiteuses, quelques notes empyreumatiques. La bouche apporte une certaine rondeur sur les fruits (un peu) et les épices (beaucoup plus), avec tout le côté funky de la Jamaïque. Son côté fumé est très prononcé. Il est excellent en Mai Tai de luxe. La finale est moyenne, presque trop courte, comparé à d'autres Hampden. On sent toujours ce fumé, mais aussi des noix, avec un peu d'amertume. Une bonne initiation à cette distillerie.

My first Jamaican.a very woody nose with a little esther/vernis.in the mouth a slight sweet note before the wood comes to take everything away on its way. The finish is almost non-existent.no fruit taste for me, the rum tasting is really personal and linked to our experience.

Compared to the successor RX3128: Fruitier, younger and sweeter nose. On the palate, a great flavor palette of banana, toasty spicy notes and a slight saltiness. This is fruitier, smoother and I really like the sweet banana note that runs through! Overall, I like it a little better than the successor, but I like the even younger 5 year LROK best

A fruity nose of very ripe tropical fruit with esters and varnish. In the background, wood, vanilla and a touch of cherry. The palate is sweet, slightly acqueous and diluted, but the fruit increases in number and volume. The finish is average, but some of the pastry and woody aromas linger for a long time. Excellent value for money here, and an easy, aromatic rum.

If you're otherwise used to 60% plus, the start is a bit watery. Otherwise, however, quite tasty, although not the Hampden typical ester bomb. Compared to Overproof somewhat sweeter and softer.

Having just tried the Hampden Great House 2021 this was disappointing. It has a similar lightness/ acetone but lacks the complexity and variety of flavours. Struggling to take much from it. Not unpleasant and definitely a Hampden but no where near as fun in terms of flavour profile as the GH.

Bin leider sehr enttäuscht von diesem Rum, der ja sonst sehr viel Anklang findet. Die Ester sind sehr zurückhaltend und nach kürzester Zeit praktisch verschwunden. Insgesamt habe ich eher das Gefühl hier einen Whisky zu trinken als einen Rum.

Despite the low ester content and ABV a wonderfully complex rum. The fruit basket on the nose and palate with lots of spice and oak, coupled with some smoky tobacco notes. Great batch, which comes across only in the finish a little sharp.

This is my least favorite Hampden rum. It lacks the delicious hogo of the HLCF and adds too much wood flavor for me. I also get a strong unpleasant Romano cheese note. This is a mixer. I won't rebuy.

I first tasted this rum over a year ago in a bar in Prague and ever since I fell in love with it. This is probably one of my most favorite rums. Definitely in top 3. And what's best is that it is affordable. Nose- Mint all the way, esters, hint of overriped fruits such as banana, you can sense eucalyptus, herbs bit of a freshly cut grass, it is really complex but I love it, one of the best smelling rums out there. Palate- Even more complex with overriped fruits such as banana, green apple, sour fruits, kiwi all that in minty eucalyptic wave supported by esters. It is quite spicy too on the palate, mostly pepper and ginger complementing the minty flavour. Really original taste that cannot be copied. Awesome 9/10 for me. 17.03.2023: Absolutely phenomenal. In my personal top 5. The 👃 is something out of this planet I could just sniff it all day long without the need to taste it. Mint/Menthol all the way. My second most favorite essence and along with rum? I am in heaven. The overripe 🍌 comes up and stands out in the long finish. I have 2 bottles of this one and I will definitely get more of it. I am preparing the comparison with overproof (old one; I need to get ahold of a new one too). 18.5.23: Pulling few down ro align with new pieces I tried but I still love it. 20.11.23 comparison with overproof and I need to pull it down just a little as the taste is a little emptier but this one wins against oveproof because of powerful minty nose. This is the only time I favor nose over taste.

Nose: strong notes of glue, furniture polish, nail polish, petrol, but also fruity and sweet, especially with banana Palate: powerful for only 46% but with a creamy mouthfeel of mango-banana-yoghurt. There is also a deeper tar note. Finish: medium long with a fruity sweetness and a stronger tar note. Conclusion: Very cool rum for a small budget.
