Velier Port Mourant PM 1975
What surprises most people is how far the bitterness goes — wet wood, cedar and extremely steeped black tea run from nose to finish. Underneath sit dried figs, prunes, raisins and a heavy tobacco note that lingers forever. A 33-year Port Mourant from Velier's old Demerara era; rich and intense, though the oak and bitter edge don't win everyone over.

I had not in the glass for a long time and especially clearly worse in memory. Super stuff! Lots of power, nice complexity, long finish!

In der Blindverkostung der Sieger unter den Velier Port Mourants. Schwere Trockenfrüchte treffen auf Holz- und Tabaknoten, dazu dezentes Gewürz und Holz. Toller 70er-Jahre-Demerara.

Had a lovely 1975 tasting today so I had to bring some of my gold as well :-) A bit heavy on the oak in my mind.

The color is very dark and dense, the nose is full-bodied and explosive (you can smell it from a distance) with plums, raisins, lots of ripened, tea, leather, quince, damp wood, vegetables (olives), burnt sugar, some tobacco and chocolate, it really has a lot of personality. The palate is firm and firm with raisins, intense leather, plums, warm spices, gum/chocolate, sichuan pepper, tea, anise, light tobacco and some ripened. The finish is persistent and medium-long with added licorice, anise, wet wood and coffee. Really a great rich and complex rum, but it does not match my taste too much. In the empty glass moist wood, ripe and raisins. It fluctuates between 8.5 and 8.6 but objectively it is at least a 9. Thanks to Olivier

Nonostante sia considerato un mostro sacro io non lo apprezzo moltissimo, al naso è molto gradevole con note predominanti di prugna secca. Al palato estremamente legnoso nota che io non amo particolarmente. Finale lunghissimo
