CDI West Indies - Old Blended Rum
Anyone stepping from soft Spanish-style rums toward something drier will find a comfortable bridge here. It's a smooth 8-year blend with vanilla, white oak, coconut and a bit of pineapple, sitting between English and Latino styles. Several tasters call it an easy sipper with a great nose, though a few find it thin and wish for more than 40%.

Neat it is a a easy sipper, those comes along with some spices, wood and fruits from the different distilleries. The alcohol is there but not too bad. But keep in mind this is only 40%. The same on the palate and it feels a bit too sweet (dosage)? Neat there are better options in this price range but still it is with a try. As a mixer I liked it a lot, especially as addition to reduce the ABV when blending different Rums.

A nice step up compared to the 5 year old latino. Still very smooth although a bit higher abv would be better imo.

8:The nose is balanced between a typical Barbadian woodiness of white oak, tobacco and vanilla, and a lighter, still vanilla-flavored body, slightly tinged with herbal notes. The cane sugar syrup is gently spicy, the fruit delicate, like an exotic fruit salad in syrup. Some dried fruit hovers over the rum without heaviness. With aeration, the rum gains in roundness and develops its Barbados side on vanilla blond tobacco and coconut. The wood is tender and melted, the rum is easy, round but not sweet and well balanced between English and Spanish styles. 8:The palate is soft and pleasant, with a well-rounded, fruity and milky entry. The rum is spreading out gently, smoothly. The palate is filled with sweet caramel, vanilla, tobacco and very tasty coconut. The exotic fruits are gently milky, gourmet. 7,5:The finish is very caramelized and mellow, still somewhere between Barbados and the Latino styles. There's a hint of stone and resinous wood at the very end. A nice sipper...

Nothing memorable. However, good value for money. Alcohol is not well integrated. Medium finish.
