Manutea Brut de Fût V.O. Private Cask 2017
Most tasters land in the "interesting but not perfect" camp, and the mint is what everyone remembers — several say it drinks almost like a mint syrup. Around it: ripe banana, brown sugar, licorice, and dried fig and date from the Banyuls cask. A few enjoy the fresh cane and warmth; others flag oak clash and an astringent, tannic finish. A genuinely unusual Tahitian cane-juice rum.

How does Manutea Brut de Fût V.O. Private Cask 2017 taste?
Aggregated from 47 community reviews.
Minty, banana-heavy Tahitian cane sipper Divisive but well-liked around 8/10. Loved for its rare Tahitian profile — mint, banana, licorice, Banyuls fruit. The catch: some find it woody, astringent and a touch bitter late.

Review by ElReyTristan

Incredibly beautiful bottling from Tahiti. Overripe banana, blackberry, vanilla pulp and dark chocolate and caramel candy with salt and coffee, plus a good dose of sugar ear, honey and tobacco. Alcohol is very well integrated and extremely complex and long lasting! Absolute benchmark underdog bottling at a very good price from Tahiti💯.

Some clashes between the oak and the distillate (mostly on the nose). Flambeed banana with a nice licorice presence, some vinous aspect too. Very interessant selection... pricey for 3 years old like all polynesian rhums (think Rangiroa). Won't buy a full bottle but i'm glad to have tested it!

Surprisingly different and yet familliar to the good stuff.

Exciting, complex rum! Milk chocolate, nougat, light medicinal notes.

Závěr středně dlouhý a velmi banánový.

I've also never had a Manutea or a rum from Tahiti in general in my glass. Nose: Sweet, fruity and spicy. Scented peach with lemon and a hint of fresh mint. In addition, soft cream toffee with vanilla, slightly chocolaty. In my opinion, the sweet wine barrel is clearly present. Overall, however, very pleasant on the nose. 8.0 Palate: Sweet, spicy and fruity. Peach at the front, then clearly spicy, with pepper, salt, nutmeg and a little caraway. Now sweet again, with soft liquorice and chocolate. Lemon zest brings acidity and bitter notes, but also fruitiness. Swings constantly back and forth between sweet, bitter, citrus fruit and chocolatey texture. A little green at the back. Too unstructured for me. 7,4
