Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths WPM 2006
Sip this one slowly in a tasting glass — at 57.5% it needs air and maybe a drop of water. Overripe banana, pineapple, glue and varnish meet a heavy dose of toasted oak, spice and leather from full tropical aging. More wood-forward than most Worthy Parks, and several tasters wish the alcohol were better integrated. Fans call it "highester funky Jamaican rum" done right.
The community says- Tropical fruit and ester
- Complex, wood-driven

How does Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths WPM 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 169 community reviews.
Fruity, woody, high-ester Jamaican sipper Widely loved as one of the best Worthy Parks around — fruity, funky and complex. The one recurring gripe: the alcohol can feel sharp and needs time to open.

A nose of fruit, banana, pineapple, tutti-frutti but also varnished old wood and leather. The palate contrasts with the liveliness of the nose; everything here is more balanced and the fruit is still very present. The finish is long, refined and balanced, with wet wood (larch) and roof tar appearing later. Lots of aromas in the empty glass.

Exceptional rum that at the second tasting impressed me the most. A strong rum that leaves its mark.Long finish with a slight hint of roasting.

I got this bottle at a very good price and it was a very nice surprise. Very fruity all the way and lightly dry in the finish. Retasting this one today and I still think it's pretty good.

The best Worthy Park I've had in a glass. Tropical fruit with lots of spice and wood. Also notes of aniseed and licorice. A rum with rough edges that has a lot to offer. Intense in flavor and a long finish. Fun in the glass every time.

Very delicious WP. Classic mix of a fruit basket with the barrel and roated aromas. Alcohol could be integrated better

Had this open for a year now, and returned to it often. As I had the chance to broaden my experience I must reduce my rating for this rum. I believe the alcohol to be to much, it is too sharp in its burn, and (at least for me) makes it difficult to access the flavours. Water helps, time had not helped (as I hoped). Still, it has an intense smell, and, given time and water, one will have a good sipper for a slow evening. If just the alcohol would have been better integrated, which I know from comparison to other rums to be possible...

The initial releases of the Habitation Velier series were my introduction to the world of Worthy Park and are still among the best I know of the distillery. The profile of the 2006 release has rough edges, brings fiery spicy notes together with tart wood, anise, licorice and slightly mineral hints and sweet notes of tropical fruit and vanilla sugar. What can I say? Just really good.

Well balanced profile between fruits and round notes. Really nice Jamaïcan rum !

This is a retaste and I am not changing my initial score from 2 years ago. A very nice jamaican from Worthy Park and to me is a great representation of the distillery. Fruit and spices, can get the oak influence coming through as well. A great nose and a medium to long finish.

9:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters and varnish, funkiness, opening with a red carpet for overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, papaya and some raisins. Tipically for WP, grass, roasted wood and vanilla, perhaps with some caramelized confectionery.... When aired a bit, more bourbon yellow fruits, citrus, bathing in honey are scented, with smoky/leather undertones. The molasses delivers vegetal/herbal bias, which rounds up medicinal notes from the beginning... 9:On the palate, the attack is intensive with overripe, fermented tropical fruits, mentioned before, spicy with pepper, the wood is dry, roasted, put shortly, we enjoy sweet, buttery confectionery, filled with tasty, juicy marmelade, especially tasty are peaches, and creamy vanilla, bathing in honey!😋 After some rest, molasses delivers vegetal, a bit bitter herbaceous, tobacco undetones and cookie dough notes, perhaps a bit yeasty. 8,9:The finish is long and fruity, balanced, the wood a bit charred, toasted with some chocolate and roasted notes, vanilla, confectionery, spicy.Later, it becomes a bit musty, as we notice some cigar ashes. Delicious...an upgrade

A Worthy Park from Habitation Velier which offers a nice aromatic balance. It is neither in the high esters, nor in the more sanitized rums, it is well constructed. The nose opens on tropical fruits (pineapple and banana) before letting out some phenolic notes (esters, glue, solvents and varnish) then woody, spicy, roasted aromas and leather. A smell of baked apple emerges from this very round and comely blend. Caramel, brown sugar and dried fruits complete the olfactory panel. One discerns in mouth an oily, intense and dry rum, with at first exotic fruits and citrus fruits, which fade rather quickly to let dominate the woody flavors (barrel), spices (pepper, chili, vanilla, cinnamon), leather, empyreumatic notes (toasted, roasted). A very unusual profile for Jamaica, the cask having played a big role on this tropical aging rum, but not unpleasant. The esters are very much in the background, but the balance of flavors is there. The finish, quite long, comes back on the bitterness of leather and dark chocolate, woody notes, hot and spicy spices, some fruit and esters notes that complete this tasty and very varied profile.More concentrated and more mastered than its 2007 counterpart, this Worthy Park 2006 is a very nice bottling that reveals another side of Jamaican rum.

A worthy park that really amazed me! The alcohol is a bit overpowering but if you let it breathe well you can appreciate it well! A mix of memories of the flavors between Appleton and monymusk makes it a very unique rum but very enjoyable to drink!

A great nose, lots of ester and varnish. In the mouth then fierce, lots of wood and very furry.I like it very much, although I would prefer the 2007.

to warm up two small sips in advance. After that, it's really fun like the Hampden overproof. Beautiful WP. For the price clear purchase recommendation. I have also fallen in love with this one <3

Verdict: great rum, with intense wood maturation, yet without losing the distillery character. It's not sweet, dark, roasted and woody, with medium esters on pineapple and glue, blackbtea, briny olives, eucalyptus and spice. 87 points. Nose: Great medium to low level of esters, molten together with black tea, olive, brine, toasted oak. Pineapple, peach confectionery, glue. There is creamy vanilla note, and cake dough, tobacco leaf. Palate: oily, nice acidic, spicy and a bit drying, yet with enough "sweet" accents (well integrated alcohol). Darker, on black tea, roasted, a hint of smoke. Then brine, green olive, eucalyptus, green, pineapple, glue, ginger and clove. Finish: long, quite dark and spicy. Quite some toasted oak, a bit of smoke, pineapple, glue ginger, clove, black tea and briny olive.

Very inviting nose. On the palate, first wild esters and alcohol that almost overrun the tongue and deliver A nice Jamaican feeling in the form of papaya, banana and co. Then always spice and wood as well. Very complex and delicious, with nice fruity notes. But although I like high esters and cask strength, I find it a bit boisterous in the mouth.
