V&B Saint James 2008
Sipped neat, this leans dark and dry for an agricole: hazelnut and dark chocolate up front, then woody spice, coffee and a touch of licorice. A few tasters catch faint grape and mirabelle fruit, but it's the nutty-chocolate side that carries it. At 62.1% the heat is present but wrapped up well. Bone dry, more savory than sweet.

How does V&B Saint James 2008 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Dry, dark, chocolate-and-nut agricole at cask strength Most find it a dark, chocolatey, spice-driven agricole that's well made and long on the finish. Not the deepest for complexity, and one reviewer rated the sibling 2001 higher.

Un rhum décomplexé, très bien fait et ce qu'il faut en gourmandise, delicious👌
Review by Jakob
Doesn't quite come close to the 2001 Saint James, but still has a really exciting spectrum of aromas on offer - compared to its big brother, however, the dark fruits lack a little power.
Review by EUDIER Vincent
Un joli rhum, proposition intéressante assez sombre, un beau vieillissement, brut de fût à l’alcool bien enrobé. Une jolie bouteille visionnaire: en 2008 les brut de fût SAINT JAMES n’étaient pas si courantes.
Review by Kéké
Au nez poivré, fruité et légèrement chocolaté. En bouche très fruité, épicé et chaud. Alcool assez présent sur la fin. Finale longue, chaude et épicée.
Review by Antoine J
Boisé, intense, gourmand et chocolaté, belle longueur !
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Grassy agricole notes, slightly reminiscent of grappa, some young wood, spices, hazelnuts with chocolate, minimal fruity notes of grape and mirabelle plum, extremely dry. The alcohol is quite well integrated, but this is not exactly a revelation in terms of complexity.
