CoR Foursquare Barbados No. 5 2008

If you know Foursquare and think you've got it pegged, this one throws a curveball. Reviewers keep calling it the odd one out: loads of fruit, strawberry bubblegum, even a funky whiff of cheese or fermented fruit on the nose. Underneath sits the familiar roasted oak, cherry and cocoa. At 60.3% it's hot, but the fruit carries it.

The community says
  • Strawberry bubblegum
  • Untypical for FS
  • But: Hot at 60.3%

Very atypical Foursquare. Lots of fruit and chewing gum. I like it very much.

This is a very nice release and different from the normal ones. Very fruity and nice roasted wood.

12th GRF, Colors of Rum Tasting. Quick and short... Nose: interesting side note of cheese or rancid sock, but really not unpleasant, rather challengingly exciting. Palate: good, solid, sweetish, slightly metallic, light licorice Pleasing, but not outstanding

Surprisingly fruity this Foursquare is hard to believe that it comes from there. I really like it. Exceptional bottling

Very surprising nose - fruit alert with hints of Hubba Bubba, completely different from the other Foursquares. No idea how that comes about - but a welcome addition to the normally not too varied aroma spectrum of the Foursquares.

Seriously, all this foursquare are more or less the same, and this is an tremendous achievement. Rarely a fallout to below the 70 points. Bourbon cask leaves vanilla and spices, some coconut, and overall a bit boring but reliable profile, even with these ib's
