Darsa Plantation Guatemala XO (Moscatel Finish)
The grape thing is what catches you off guard here — the Moscatel finish sits right on top, all fresh grapes and peach with a bit of vanilla and faint chocolate underneath. Most tasters find it light and clearly sweet, pleasant enough but thin, and a few felt the alcohol sticks out despite only 43%. One reviewer summed it up as "sweet and one-dimensional."

Maybe this rum really needed some nice finish in the aging not to be only an average rum. But the moscatel finish is all over this one making it a nice sip for an affordable price.

14.02.2023 Relaxing at home with a few samples. Colour Medium dark in colour. Nose Light, sweet, light nutts, light wood, faint chocolate, spice. Palate Light, sweet, fruits, light nutts, light caramel, faint coconut, light spicy, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, sweet, fruits, light light raisin, light herbal, spice. There is a light bitterness in the profile and the ABV could have been better integrated.

Meh. Sweet and one-dimensional.

Trotz der 43% ist der Rum recht alkoholisch.

nice grape on the nose, but too sweet on the palate

Sehr leichter Rum. Das Moscatelfass passt gut zum Rum: ausgeprägte Süße! Kräftiger als der Plantation Trinidad 2009 Duvel aber immer noch Recht blass.

Not quite my thing. Initially fruity and a little spicy with delicate chocolate. Then rather sad and sour to slightly bitter. Not a bad rum but not my taste. Alcohol could also be better integrated
