Berry Bros & Rudd Single Cask Fiji Rum (LMDW) 2009

One taster's first Fiji, and the note that sticks is vanilla — soft, buttery, "sweet vanilla biscuit" up front. Around it sits solvent and varnish, a touch of sour cherry, floral lychie and a mineral edge. At 58% the alcohol is fairly well integrated but you work around it to reach the fruit. Light-to-medium body, short dry finish.

The community says
  • Buttery vanilla note
  • Balanced at 58%
  • But: Short dry finish

#7084 26.07.2026 Relaxing with a few samples while watching the Da Vinci Code. Pretty nice rum with a good price tag at release in my mind. Intense profile with fruits, petrol spice, honey, mint and roasted wood.

Here I like the impact of sour cherry quite well. I'm missing a little counterpart that makes the whole thing rounder then you would have a lot of fun. So ultimately for me on a level with the SBS

An original profile. It reminds me a bit of the Fiji from Old Brothers which is also a 2009. Compared to the latter, it is a bit more mellow. It is also a little more diluted which takes away some texture. A balanced and pleasant rum.

Mal wieder ein 2009er Fiji von Berry Bros & Rudd. Vanille, mineralisch, leicht fruchtig. Der Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Keine schlechte Abfüllung, aber auch keine die lange in Erinneeung bleiben wird.

First time? sipping rum from Fiji. Beautiful golden colour. On the nose: Quite intense industrial solvent with hints of grass on background. I let the rum rest for a while and then i get more of sour and floral notes. Little bit of ester. Round, balanced and the high abv is present. Taste: Quite vanilla forward. Taste reminds me a little bit of sweet vanilla bisquit. Floral notes and litchi.Alcohol is integrated for a high abvquite well, but you still have to work around it to get the notes. Medium body, not that much of barrell influence for a 12 year old rum. Finish:Quite short and dry. Maybe due the mild flavour profile the finish was quite mild. Interesting experience. Maybe i have to revisit this somewhere in the future to see if find more interesting and diverse notes.

Alkoholisch würzig-scharf. Abgang: Lang und alkoholisch-wärmend. Vanille, Ester und etwas Holz. Trocken im Nachgeschmack. 85 Punkte
