Curious Clairin drinkers who want to see what five years in oak does to Haitian cane juice — that's the audience here. The nose leans floral and grassy, closer to an aged agricole than the raw, dirty clairin you might expect. On the palate: olive, honeyed sweetness, earthy notes and a charred, roasted-banana finish. Well-integrated at 47.5%, but several tasters found the wild edges too tamed.

On the nose, it goes in the direction of an Agricole VSOP and is not as "dirty" as I know Clairin otherwise. In the taste then come through rather notes that I already had with many Clairin, eg olive. Somewhat earthy. Downright charred in the finish. In the finish comes roasted banana.

I had so many expectations in this rum but I was very disappointed! Very flat in flavor and gives you little emotion, plus all the special features that unaged casimir has here I find them very little! Really a great pity!

I like it quite a lot. Less the typical Clairin notes on the nose, but rather floral, perhaps also aniseed. On the palate, the cask comes through a little more strongly, but still a good balance to the earthy notes and a slight (honey) sweetness. I would describe the cask maturation experiment as a success here (which has not worked out very well with other Clairins)

19.11.2021 Celebrating my birthday at a bygone local bar with dinner as part of the experience. Notes Light in colour. Nose Fresh, fruity, banana, light grass, sugarcane, light tea, light olive. Palate Light wood, light sour, orange, fruity, olive, light salty, raisin, sugarcane. Finish Medium to long, fresh, balanced, light wood, faint roasted, olive, light salty, light earthy.

Mwah. It's not bad, but it's interesting to discover. Because, quite frankly, if you want a nice Agricole, well, you can easily find something much better, much cheaper and findable! Hype for an investor's product rather than a rum lover's...
