Very nice Jamaican blend. Both distilleries are well known and throughout the finish, you also get some cherry notes. Very delicious, but I’m missing the complexity/full body. Also, the finish is quite short and not very impressive. The 57% ABV is well integrated.

This Jamaica blend is a positive surprise for me. Typically Jamaican on the nose, but with an artificial effect. The palate is then fruity and funky. The honey note on the palate and in the finish is interesting. The finish is slightly smoky/burnt. Worthy Park is definitely in there =P

Nice Jamaican blend. Unsurprisingly very WP forward but with a nice touch adding some funk to the mix. Works very well imo. While the lower ABV bottling can hold up pretty well on its own, side-by-side the higher ABV of the Navy Strength bottling clearly makes the difference adding additional depth on the nose as well as on the palate.

8,4:On the nose, funkiness and esters, with ripe, fermented tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, roasted wood notes with pastry, biscuits, nuts, citrus and spices. On aeration, flowery and grassy, now red fruits join the game, make us thinking of a marmelade, chocolate, perhaps better if we say cocoa powder, molasses brings licorice, later hay instead of grass...Honey, green apple and cinnamon...apple crumbles? 8,2:On the palate, the attack is light at first, bland, a bit astringent, but when it gets some air, esters, vegetal notes and above mentioned tropical fruits are out, fermented, joined with papaya after a while.The wood is roasted with nuts, pastry and caramel, spicy with vanilla and anise, salty.Molasses brings licorice, hay, chilli and floral touch...Red fruits again late, but present, fermented...a sweet guava pops out, when the rum is warm... 8,3:The finish is quite long, especially confectionery with bread and yeast stays well long after our last sip, smoky, dry, mineral, tannic, but more round as the palate, with similar notes lingering on... Im Gegensatz zum leichteren Bruder ist dieser an der Nase viel zurückhaltender und subtiler! Klar, Frucht ist auch vorhanden, aber nicht so präsent, hinzu kommt leichte Ester, ein wenig Lösungsmittel und etwas Funk! Am Gaumen überwiegen holzige Würzigkeit mit einem hauch von Schwarztee! Alkohol ist gut integriert! Der Abgang relativ kurz und unspektakulär! Ein guter Rum, komnt aber meines Erachtens an den Hampden Estate HLCF (gleiche Preisklasse) nicht heran!

Nice blend, maybe a bit sharp, but for the price it's still available for, it's actually a nice piece to buy. You can't go wrong with it. In my opinion, this rum is unfortunately still under the radar for most people.

On the nose still somewhat stronger impressions from the Hampden parts, but in the mouth Worthy Park increasingly takes command. Nevertheless, the fruit ester part of the HLCF part of the blend remains an always recognizable companion. Not a candidate for rum of the year, but at the issue price this was a really fair deal for a qualitatively convincing rum.

For me clearly more Worthy Park than Hampden, blind I would also guess nen LFCH at Hampden. Overall less complex than the Habitation Velier Worthy Park, less intensity than the Habitation Velier LFCH. Also more biting overall. This one is even better than the lower ABV brother. Wow, very good price to quality on this one as well. Luckily I bought several bottles of each one. The nose is fresh, funky and fruity with ester, grass, wood and a mix of spices. The palate is wonderfully balanced, fresh, funky and fruity with esters, wood, spices and light nuts. The finish is very long and has wood, grass, spices, chocolate and fruits to it. The higher ABV has done this rum well :-)

A blend between Hampden and Worthy Park, Full Proof version. The alchemy between the two distilleries works well, with typical ripe tropical fruit markers on the nose (pineapple, banana, papaya in the lead) and phenolic notes of esters, solvents and glue. There's a pronounced fermented side, with medicinal, mineral and citrus (lime) notes. There's a not inconsiderable spicy influence on vanilla, licorice and cinnamon, as well as a barrel-impregnated woodiness. A simple, structured, coherent olfactory profile that works well. The attack on the palate is fairly direct. Hampden asserts its fruity notes and esters, while Worthy Park brings its share of spice (vanilla, pepper, licorice) and woody influence to the profile. A slight medicinal and mineral note emerges on the finish. We're on to something funky, but very round and balanced. The alcohol is fairly well integrated. The finish falls short of expectations, the aromas fading quickly despite the good momentum on the nose and palate. Fruits, esters, nuts, spices and wood come together, with a hint of vegetal bitterness. The finish is thin, light and unfortunately too short-lived. More concentrated but less diversified than its reduced counterpart, this Papalin remains a solid reference for anyone wishing to discover a colorful Jamaican rum at a very reasonable price.

VSGB - I finally get around to opening this one as well. Nose: relaxed and pleasant, fruity-spicy, with light ester notes. Lemon and orange peel with some green apple. A pleasant honey sweetness and soft licorice come in. Some wood in the back and very slightly smoky. The WP clearly takes over here before HD. I imagine the smoky note comes from minimal sherry content. 85Palate: first a bit dry and spicy as well as bitter and salty, then slowly softening into licorice and anise. Then light esters and some lemon also come in, as well as the barrel and some umami. Not so convincing here overall, not bad, but nothing special either. 77

On the nose, has very gentle Jamaican funkiness, with tropical fruits (pineapple and papaya, to me), a subtle floral background note, and some sweetness that reminds me confetti. In the blend, the WP really stands out, as the nose profile really reminds me the HV Forsyths WP. On the palate, the minerality of the high esters Hampden comes through, then again tropical fermented fruits and some spices. For its release price, it is a no-brainer buy. Really balanced and easily sipping rum, although not a memorable one

Nose: more closed than the little brother with 47%. But the higher alcohol content is hardly noticeable. Palate: also not as straightforward as the 47% with a nice nuttiness.Aftertaste: here comes me now the association to Clarendon, which the 47% already showed on the palate!Clearly more interesting compared to the little brother. Provides a nice window into the world of Jamaica Rum.

the 'red' in direct comparison with the 'blue': The red scores slightly higher, as it seems rounder despite the higher ABV. The blue is more at the fermented HD notes, the red more at the fruity WP notes. At Ausgsbepreis both a good P/L.

Tasted as a 5cl sample. Compared to the 47% less buttery smells. Instead, bubble gum, varnish, tropical fruit, slightly fermented. If the bubblegum smell would not be there rather the typical Jamaica profile than in the 47 variant. But all quite harmonious and pleasant.Taste very balanced between spices and fruit, which do not interfere with each other. In the finish dominates then rather Holziger taste, with a touch of sour cherry. Alcohol is well integrated and the finish lasts long. Price-wise, this rum clearly stands out from the crowd. For 60-65€/0.7l an absolute no brainer. Now and then emerges yes ne Glasche. So far I was always seconds too late. Maybe I still have the necessary luck. Absolute buy recommendation for the issue price.

Cette version non réduite est vraiment très aromatique. Le Hampden est très présent avec ses fruits mûrs et ces esters. Le tout est un peu assagi par le WP (à vérifier). C'est bien fait, très agréable à boire et finalement accessible niveau tarif.

Clearly better than its thin, blue brother. A bit more moderate on the nose, but I would even say more balanced. Less spiky esters, but also the WP undertone is less present or more nicely integrated into the distillate. The palate is also more convincing, not least because it doesn't come across as watery. Here, the Hampden share now shows more clearly than is the case with the blue bottling. There, Hampden is almost only noticeable in the nose. I even imagine I notice a trace of the sherry finish and slight associations to the Pagos Awakening in me, but may be imagination. Overall, a good, stronger blend than its brother, which definitely picks me up more!

In der Nase hat klar der kleine Bruder die Nase vorne, die hier auch mehr floral daher kommt. Am Gaumen hingegen zeigt der Rum seine Stärke und bringt volle Jamaikanische Funkiness mit. Tolle Würze viel Frucht aber auch von der floralen Note bleibt etwas hängen. Das Finish ist dann eher holzig mit Anis aber zum Glück auch etwas Kirsche so das die Balance hier gehalten wurde. Schöner Rum nur die schwächere Nase verhindert eine bessere Bewertung

This blend presents itself aggressively spicy and sharp, atypical for the respective distilleries that supplied the spirits. Interesting to see how a WP/HD blend wades itself into -in my opinion- young NY ‘09 territory. It ambushes the nose with peppers, cured leather and vinegar. Very sharp. Taking a sip to mellow out and adjust the palate really helps to identify other aromas. After settling, you get more diverse spice, unripe pineapple, candied fruits and green tea. On the palate unmistakably WP takes over, hitting all the usual markers such as plantains, cereal and black tea. Still quite sour, but this time driven by less oppressive malic acid. It does maintain some interesting complexity from the Hampden component. The finish is again unusual: fennel driven with more notes of black tea and crushed mint. Medium long with a stewed vegetable undertone. I understand this to be a polarising experience, because it’s so atypical to its terroir. Hitting markers from NY all the way to Clairin, is maybe a bit much. But I like it. I like it a lot. So much I’m unfortunately going through the bottle at high speed. The price/quality ratio at release is high.

👃 Nez : frais et fruité, avec de belles notes beurrées. Un profil accessible, tout en gourmandise et très bien équilibré. 👄 Bouche : grasse sur les fruits confits, les agrumes et le chocolat. L’alcool est bien intégré, l’ensemble reste harmonieux et agréable. 👉 Mon avis : j’apprécie vraiment ce rhum. Pour une cinquantaine d’euro, on a ici un 7 ans idéal pour découvrir la Jamaïque sans brutalité. Il lui manque un peu de longueur, certes, mais ça reste un très bon point d’entrée : facile à boire, gourmand et convivial. 🎄 Je vous souhaite d’ores et déjà de très belles fêtes de fin d’année ! Nez sur les solvants les fruits tropicaux bien mûrs et la vanille. Après ouverture ça sent bon le gâteau aux fruits. En bouche, 2 phases se suivent, en premier lieu c'est doux sur la vanille et la banane et la vanille puis rapidement le piment, le boisé, les solvants et une petite note minérale viennent donner du peps à l'ensemble. La finale est longue épicée et anisée. Très bon rhum🔥

Worthy Park clearly dominates again. In fact, this one with the higher alcohol content is not quite as smooth and the alcohol is not as well integrated. As an easy sipper, I actually prefer the brother with the lower alcohol content.

On the nose it is bright, floral, with overripe banana. There is a light vinegary note in the background that mixes with raisins and the smell of an old cellar, damp and musty. Interesting, vibrant, really fantastic on the nose. The taste is oily but easy to drink, slightly salty, woody,peppery and a bit ashy/charred, but I’m not finding a lot of additional layers. The aftertaste is medium long, slightly woody, dry, with bitter dark chocolate. Nothing too pronounced; far in the background there is a little fruit like bubble gum, but that’s about it. A good sipper, and I will probably keep another bottle in the collection since these are limited releases.

I rate this for the degrees of complexity but there is a bitterness (overstewed black tea?) note that means I can’t fully enjoy it. Lots of funk, tropical fruits and woody/ barrel on the nose and palate. As a side note the smell/ fumes from this rum managed to turn my Dyson fan’s air quality indicator red with an exclamation mark 😂
