The Duchess Hampden Jamaica 13 (Great House) C<>H 2007
Near-universal love here, with the only real debate being how it stacks up against its Duchess sister cask (#18 at 66,1%) — some prefer this one's creamier, fruitier lean, others the sharper sibling. Expect a "basket of tropical fruits," overripe banana and pineapple, marzipan and plenty of glue. At 66,9% it drinks warm but the alcohol stays remarkably well tucked in.
The community says- Well-integrated alcohol
- Tropical fruit bomb
- But: Astringent

Absolute board with an awesome RRP! Great nose of caramel sweets, tropical fruit salad, with mainly pineapple and honeydew melon and plenty of glue and spice. The taste is spicy and intensely sweet with young wood, lots of spices, caramel, pineapple and plenty of glue. This thing is really fun and the alcohol is absolutely perfectly integrated! Overall, however, I find the batch 2 with 66.1% a bit better! Fuck the "standard" great house series, this is the real shit going on! 🤣🤤🥂🇯🇲💥💣 I'd really like a bottle for special occasions!
Review by Leo Krüper
Significantly spicier than the sister version with 66.1%. Interestingly, there really is a difference. Nevertheless, a great Hampden with a different focus. Super PLV and bottle design.

Magnifique finale ! Je le préfère nettement à son frère RX10861.

Bisher mein liebster High Ester Hampden. So macht Hampden richtig Spaß.

Oh yes, what a fine drop. In no way inferior to its sister cask. I really couldn't decide which of the two is better. Two top bottlings from The Duchess. Cask #6 and #18 from 2007 - great choice.

And last but not least for today, a really cool Hampden. Actually, every Hampden is great haha :-) Again plenty of tropical fruits like pineapple and banana, otherwise good esters, but that's normal here :-)

I notice no difference to the other Duchess 2007 13 years barrel 18. Therefore, again typical Hampden full broadside Ester. In direct comparison to other High-Ester Hampdens I had to score the 2007s down a bit (-2).

Nose: Powerfull / basket of tropical fruits / more mature Sweeter / powerful / esters throughout

Nice Hampden. However, I find it a little strong and a little rough.

#6139 27.12.2025 Having a few more afternoon samples before my wife gets back home. Nose Medium intense, fruity, overripe, ester, light glue, banana, light wood, spice, faint smoke, light ginger. Palate Intense, warm, oily, ester, light wood, fruity, overripe, banana, light citrus, faint caramel, pineapple, cinnamon, light glue. Finish Very long and warm, oily, light wood, light roasted, ester, fruity, naturally sweet, light cinnamon, banana. Empty glass Banana, light cherry, cinnamon, light ginger, faint chocolate, light glue. Needs to rest for a good while and then a lot of natural sweetness shows up in the profile.

Really good stuff - a real fruit bomb and quite a lot of High Ester Hampden with the typical notes of overripe banana, pineapple. Full-bodied, comes initially already slightly sweetish, yet has a good astringency. Real board, the alcohol is well integrated despite the 66.9%!

Tak tohle je ale velká paráda! Nádherný nos plný tropického ovoce, lepidla dává vědět, že nás čeká skvělá jamaijca mojí nejoblíbenější marky C<>H. Chuť je opět ovocná komplexní a intenzivní s trochou pepře, krásně integrovaným alkoholem a trochu sucha v ústech. Závěr spíše delší a hřejivý. Nádhera!
Review by Thunderbird
In the nose immediately the classic Hampden force...ester, glue however also sweet fruity notes..on the palate first sweetness and then very astringent! Then again typical...and a very long finish, this rum reminds me strongly of the Kill Devil of 2007!

🎨 vin blanc à or pâle.

Impeccably complex on the nose keeping the balance between fermented and medicinal notes. A one-way ticket straight to the jungles of Jamaica. Starting off with overripe banana, pineapple juice and berry mix (primarily currants). Raw honey with light vanilla and crème fraîche, evolving into leafy sugarcane, pimento, hay and lavender. Subsequently heavily “industrial”; nail polish remover and automotive notes: paintshop, hot glue and a hint of petrol. On the palate slightly less interesting than on the nose. The same profile continues, but some if not most of the automotive notes unfortunately get lost in overwhelming lemon juice and ash. The alcohol is also not perfectly integrated. All things considered this still is an excellent drop. Ends in a reasonable lengthy finish with pineapple juice, marzipan, cake frosting and esters.

Wow… what an incredible rum! 🤤 This one really knocked me off my feet. Packed with esters, tropical fruits, a hint of glue, and that delicious marzipan note 🤤🤤🤤 All perfectly balanced with just the right ABV. I truly enjoyed every sip – this one’s definitely going on my Christmas list 😏😜

Very good intense and strong Jamaica. Just what the doctor ordered for fighting the first signs of a flue. Have to agree with reviewer who detected whiff of Mezcal smoke.

... Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Jeden z rumu, ktere "must try before die"

Velmi dobrý a jemný esterový Hampden.
