The Duchess Hampden Jamaica 13 (Great House) C<>H 2007
Near-universal love here, with the only real debate being how it stacks up against its Duchess sister cask (#18 at 66,1%) — some prefer this one's creamier, fruitier lean, others the sharper sibling. Expect a "basket of tropical fruits," overripe banana and pineapple, marzipan and plenty of glue. At 66,9% it drinks warm but the alcohol stays remarkably well tucked in.

Fruity, glue-heavy high-ester Hampden Loved by Hampden fans as a full-throttle ester bomb — banana, pineapple, marzipan and glue with the ABV surprisingly well integrated. Astringent and hot; sip it slowly.

It's just gorgeous, perfect 🤩🤩🤩 Full pot of esters, perfectly integrated alcohol, filled with fruit and caramel. This juice is really top-notch, a must-taste 😍😍😍

I notice no difference to the other Duchess 2007 13 years barrel 18. Therefore, again typical Hampden full broadside Ester. In direct comparison to other High-Ester Hampdens I had to score the 2007s down a bit (-2).

So far my favorite High Ester Hampden. The rum is despite the strong flavors still nicely balanced without becoming too biting. The alcohol is perfectly integrated and warms nicely.
Review by Domi Mal
Really good stuff - a real fruit bomb and quite a lot of High Ester Hampden with the typical notes of overripe banana, pineapple. Full-bodied, comes initially already slightly sweetish, yet has a good astringency. Real board, the alcohol is well integrated despite the 66.9%!

Very good intense and strong Jamaica. Just what the doctor ordered for fighting the first signs of a flue. Have to agree with reviewer who detected whiff of Mezcal smoke.

Nose: Powerfull / basket of tropical fruits / more mature Sweeter / powerful / esters throughout

Tak tohle je ale velká paráda! Nádherný nos plný tropického ovoce, lepidla dává vědět, že nás čeká skvělá jamaijca mojí nejoblíbenější marky C<>H. Chuť je opět ovocná komplexní a intenzivní s trochou pepře, krásně integrovaným alkoholem a trochu sucha v ústech. Závěr spíše delší a hřejivý.

Scheiß auf die "Standard" great house Serie, this is the real shit going on! 🤣🤤🥂🇯🇲💥💣 Hätte ich wirklich gerne ne Flasche für besondere Anlässe von!

Complex nose with esters. Overripe pineapple, glue, vegetal and a hint of lactic fermentation. The palate is lively but not aggressive, as the aromas immediately fill it out. A buttery edge also softens this rather intense rum. The finish is long, and it's the fruit that lingers longest, with a pleasant sweetness, like milk chocolate. Magnificent finish! I much prefer it to its brother RX10861.

Oh ja, was für ein feiner Tropfen. Steht seinem Schwesternfass in nichts nach. Könnte mich jetzt wirklich nicht entscheiden, welcher von beiden wirklich besser ist. Zwei Topp Abfüllungen von The Duchess. Das Fass #6 und #18 von 2007 super Wahl.

In the nose immediately the classic Hampden force...ester, glue however also sweet fruity notes..on the palate first sweetness and then very astringent! Then again typical...and a very long finish, this rum reminds me strongly of the Kill Devil of 2007!

Impeccably complex on the nose keeping the balance between fermented and medicinal notes. A one-way ticket straight to the jungles of Jamaica. Starting off with overripe banana, pineapple juice and berry mix (primarily currants). Raw honey with light vanilla and crème fraîche, evolving into leafy sugarcane, pimento, hay and lavender. Subsequently heavily “industrial”; nail polish remover and automotive notes: paintshop, hot glue and a hint of petrol. On the palate slightly less interesting than on the nose. The same profile continues, but some if not most of the automotive notes unfortunately get lost in overwhelming lemon juice and ash. The alcohol is also not perfectly integrated. All things considered this still is an excellent drop. Ends in a reasonable lengthy finish with pineapple juice, marzipan, cake frosting and esters.

Nice Hampden. However, I find it a little strong and a little rough.
