Privateer Distiller's Drawer #97 Pot Stilled New England Rum 'Spirito di Contemplazione'
Roasted nuts, vanilla and young oak lead here, with a nougat-toffee sweetness and flashes of orchard fruit, mint and menthol that fade with air. Several tasters swore it was a Barbados rum, even mistaking it for Foursquare on a blind pour. The recurring gripe: at 55.7% the alcohol never quite settles in, leaving a spicy, slightly medicinal edge over an otherwise round, bourbon-leaning profile.

Nutty, vanilla-led rum with a hot edge Most found it round and nutty with a Bajan-like character, but nearly everyone flagged the alcohol as poorly integrated and a bit hot. A few called it the weakest Privateer they'd tried.

Privateer is a thing that can go miss or hit. This is a hit, not perfect but very good. I would like to have more of that. It also seems, I like other things in Privateer than the rest of us.

Man schmeckt was man riecht, dazu Apfel und Birne.

Profil surprenant

#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 4 Exceptionally round profile on the nose, checking boxes from all categories and all in equal amount. Opens with coconut husks, dried dates and an overwhelming amount of roasted and raw nuts. The bitterness slowly develops into a creamy sweetness, off-set by lemon oils. The heart is fresh and flowery combining the roasted nuts with a cool twist. Nice, but a minor downside is that the alcohol stings, even after being left out for a while. On the tip of tongue again and immediately very nutty. It’s less intricate than the nose, and very ‘bourbon-esque’ as a result. However the fruits do go through a lovely evolution from coconut husks, over apples and pears into a blue grape tail. The finish is rather unexciting and not much different from a shot of bourbon: sweet and malty. Reading some of the other reviews, I find them to be rather harsh. The profile is very Bajan-like, not extremely complex, but round, and rich. All-in-all an interesting experience, and I’m glad I had the chance to try this. But for Europeans the price on this is just too high.

Sensation of Obstler (continental fruit basket) on the nose and palate. Combined with a noticeable sweetness akin to honey and caramel. Alcohol integration is not perfect but acceptable. Notes of perfume and soap on the finish.

OK rum, ale nic, o čem by člověk psal domů. 55 % je znát, převládají ořechové tóny s dřevem a vanilkou.
Review by mto75

RX calendar day 4 A bit whisky like, spicy.

Review by Jarek
Review by Christian Rudt
Etwas in Richtung Haselnuss Nugat.
Review by Mentalo
Alkohol schlecht integriert.
Review by Jakob

For a first smell it is wildnFiji, for a first taste it is blend of FSQ
