Romero & Sons Aged 9 Years
An Ecuadorian pot-still rum is a rarity, and this one leans into baked apple, cinnamon and winter spice more than tropical fruit. The nose can be promising, but tasters keep hitting a snag on the palate: burnt wood, a hot alcohol edge and a bitterness that lingers. One even caught a soapy note. Interesting origin, uneven execution.

Spicy, woody Ecuadorian with a hot, bitter finish Most find it spicy and woody with baked-apple sweetness, but the palate divides people: too hot, a bit bitter, and several call it flat and one-dimensional.

all right.

Very sweet baked apple.

Not really my taste. Above all, I have the feeling of soap in my mouth 😬 But well, now I've had a rum from Ecuador 😄
Review by Werni
It has a quite pleasant nose with citrus fruits and sweet cookie dough, unfortunately it cannot maintain the level on the palate. Spiciness and burnt wood dominate here, it remains quite long, but not of the pleasant kind. Not my cup of tea.
Review by Jonas
I've given him several chances, but it's not going to be love anymore. Boring and too alcoholic. Too bad. Ecuador, pot still and molasses/sugar cane juice are an exciting thing for me for now.
