The Antigua Distillery English Harbour Coeur de Savalle
Sipped neat, this is where the surprise lands: 73.6% that most tasters call shockingly drinkable. Expect cocoa, dark chocolate, caramel and roasted oak, with mealy banana and dried fruit underneath. Several people blind-guessed Foursquare or Belize — a Spanish-style column profile more than a heavy pot rum. The heat cuts at first, then the alcohol reads warm and creamy.

Aggregated from 46 community reviews.
Chocolate-heavy cask strength that drinks shockingly easy Most find the near-74% remarkably well-integrated, praising the chocolate-caramel depth. The recurring gripe isn't the rum but the value, and a couple call it metallic or a touch thin.

As expected, the alcohol is quite recognizable, but next to it show some quite appealing notes of especially heavy sweetness of caramel, vanilla and dried fruit. Has subtle hints of sherry, overall quite pleasant to title. Great that one has dared a bottling with this strength.

Sehr karamellig, etwas schoko.

Tasted this great rum from English Harbour from a sample I had before opening one of my bottles. It’s distilled in their Savalle copper column and was barreled at 80% in lightly toasted oak barrels for 8 years whereafter it was bottled at cask strength at 73,6%. The nose is intense, fruity, roasted and woody with aromas of cocoa, caramel, vanilla, banana and dried fruits. At the palate and during the long finish it’s elegant, roasted, spicy and woody with flavors of vanilla, caramel, cocoa, chocolate and dried fruits.

🤯 with info 74% so incredibly smooth? Mega cool. Could easily pass as a really good Belize or foursquare for me in blind tasting. Really puts you in a good mood. Banana split/chocolate and salted caramel cream. Very tasty! If the price of over €200 for a relatively full proof Spaniard wasn't so expensive, the rating could definitely be a little higher...

Bought this bottle at Premier Cru next to the Antigua Distillers Ltd Headoffice in Saint John‘s. The nose is really special, rich and complex. Fruity banana with some wooden and chocolate notes. The taste is quite strong due to the 73,6%, but still surprisingly comfortable enough for pure sipping with notes of chocolate, roast and spice. Long finish down the throat, warm and roasty. This is really a weapon. Great great stuff! Thanx to the staff of premier cru for the recommendation!

A whopping 73.6%! Of course, it cuts the nose a little at first. But then you can carefully approach the aromas. And they are very nice and full-bodied. The first notes are cocoa and chocolate, plus a little floury banana and the tart sweetness of maple syrup. Lovely wood, tobacco and leather are added. More tropical fruit and papaya on the back. The high ABV makes it creamy and warm. But the alcohol is incredibly well integrated. Immediately has that chocolatey note again, but with a hint of brioche and caramel or toffee. Maple syrup, vanilla and tropical fruits are present, as well as dried dates. Brioche and vanilla in the finish too. It has a lot to offer. But we recommend trying it.

Tasted together with the Antiguas from Nectar RX12756 and SBS RX12782. The high ABV makes it interesting and it comes across as surprisingly smooth. But compared to the other two, I find the price premium unjustified,

Blind I would have packed the sample rather direction Foursquare. Very nice nose. On the palate then a bit too rough.

I saw and tried it at the GRF and quickly fell in love with it. Tasted it again today. This thing is an explosion of flavor with great fruit, woody notes and a perfect integration of the 73! %.
Review by DomM
Very nice and intense nose. On the palate vanilla and chocolate akin to high quality Spanish columns or FS. Alcohol is a touch to present overall.
Review by Johannes
Very chocolaty rum in Spanish style. Alcohol is relatively well integrated for the 73.6%. The taste of the rum is reminiscent of Foursquare and Panama.
