Asta Morris Bielle Rasta Morris 2009
Sip this one neat and give it fifteen minutes to open — it wakes up with fresh grass, sugarcane, violets and chamomile, then ripe peach, apricot and citrus. A column-still Bielle agricole from Marie-Galante at 49.4%, and the nose is where it shines. Several tasters found the palate a touch thin and the finish short of the promise.

How does Asta Morris Bielle Rasta Morris 2009 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Floral, grassy Marie-Galante agricole, big on the nose A lovely Bielle most agree on — bright, floral, well-integrated alcohol — but the finish thins out and a few wanted more richness on the palate.

Bert (Asta Morris) is very good at selecting his Bielles and he proved it again with this 10 yo. You have multiple layers, the one with that citrus touch akin to the distillery profile (really stewed here), but also tobacco and incense that make this one a winner for its complexity (not mentioning spices, coffee beans, vanilla, a hint of coco and the vegetal side). Makes you wonder what was the Bourbon in the cask before!

After resting for 15 minutes this rum releases all of its wonderful flavours. Very fresh and grassy with fruit and vanilla. The finish is long and very well balanced. Unfortunately only released in a very limited amount of bottles.

A very pretty Bielle from 2009, which gives a lovely impression on the nose. There's a lovely fruity component with exotic fruit, citrus, peach and apricot. Floral notes are ravishingly fresh, with violet, chamomile and aromatic herbs tending towards black tea. Spicy, woody notes are also present. A fragrant, round and very pleasant profile. The attack on the palate is multi-faceted: sometimes fruity, sometimes spicy, sometimes floral, the aromatic palette is broad and well spread out over the length. The alcohol is well integrated, but the 49.4% still has a modicum of vivacity. However, the finish falls short of expectations, thin, volatile and sparse, without being overly expressive. Slightly bitter on grass, espresso and cocoa. There's succinct oak and light spice on the finish. The menthol and tea notes on the finish are fresh and pleasant. If the finish seems disappointing, the flavors on the nose and palate are more striking, and there's more impact, vivacity and complexity in this profile than in the rounder, greedier Bielle 2011.

To keep it short, not Champions-League, but a great Bielle. If you can get your hands on a Sample or even a bottle, don’t hesitate.

Un Profil plutôt vif au premier abord avec un joli nez fleuri. Il évolue vers des arômes boisés par la suite. Je le trouve malheureusement un peu déséquilibré, et manquer d'une certaine gourmandise...

The nose makes really a lot of fun and desire for more. Taste-wise, it is then a bit too thin for me and not quite as intense and fruity as I had hoped. Nevertheless, a very tasty bielle!
