Richland Rum Single Estate Old South Georgia Rum (Romhatten Cask #2) 2011
Most tasters land around "good but nothing groundbreaking" — several kept comparing it blind to a lightly sweetened Foursquare or a Foursquare–Worthy Park mix. What's in the glass: chocolate, pecan and roasted cranberries over vanilla and sweet virgin oak, with dried fruit and a maple-honey edge. At 62% the alcohol sits surprisingly quietly. Enjoyable and balanced, but a few found it short on lasting impression.

How does Richland Rum Single Estate Old South Georgia Rum (Romhatten Cask #2) 2011 taste?
Aggregated from 19 community reviews.
Balanced, chocolate-nut cask-strength sipper Balanced, chocolatey and nutty with well-hidden heat for the ABV. Most like it and compare it to Foursquare; the common gripe is it's pleasant but not memorable.

Eugen sent me this sample so that I could talk a bit of olfactory wisdom. I'm honored😇 well, let's see ... a 9 year old from overseas, from a virgin oak, pot still, molasses, without anything at 62%. Sounds very good... Nose: wow, very dense and full aroma. Spicy and woody with dark, sweet and sour fruits. The New Make oak barrel brings a lot of vanilla and sweet wood aroma right at the beginning. The sweetness reminds me of strong forest honey. At the same time, there are also fruity-fresh notes of juicy lemon, orange and sweet and sour blackcurrant, gooseberry and sour cherry. Yes, it could also be cranberries. There are also nutty aromas of fat pecan and cocoa powder. The %% is a great fit. I really like it. 8.9 Palate: strong and spicy-woody here too. The Virgin Oak comes back with vanilla and sweet wood flavors, but there is also a salty-bitter attack with light tannins. Once again, I find the sweet and sour fruits - sour cherry and gooseberry - to be dominant, although these are accompanied by nutmeg, pepper and a little sweet liquorice. Overall, it seems a little young and wild, roasty and nutty-bacon, but it's really fun. 8,7 Gladly more of this 🤤

Wicked. Blindly, I would have guessed a Belize or Barbados Foursquare rum, but slightly sweetened. It tastes a bit like the brew of pickled rum raisins, also strongly reminiscent of bourbon whiskey and a nice sweetness reminiscent of maple syrup. The alcohol could be slightly better integrated, but for 9y it's quite impressive what's on offer here.

richland from the USA. 9 years tropical (?) matured? Strong in the barrel. Wow, suprise suprise. you would think. The rum is good, the alcohol very well integrated, the taste is very reminiscent of Foursquare with some nuts and roasted cranberries. Aroma Detectives ala Frank_N would be needed for further elaborations. Delicious, unfortunately not very innovative.

A real nice discovery of this distillery, thanks Jonas. The profile is greedy (chocolate, nuts) with a nice concentration. The alcohol is super integrated, I would not have guessed the 62 if it was not written. In short, it is a very good rum of this profile.

Erstaunlich guter Rum! Erinnert mich an ein Mittelding aus Foursquare und Worthy Park.

Very relaxed rum despite the >62Abv, lots of molasses, dried fruit and hints of chocolate. Neat and balanced, but without lasting impression.

Pleasing, but without that certain something...

I know far too little about US American Rums, even though I know that they have a large history. This again reminds me of rums for the American market, being akin to the way bourbons can be pleasent. Still nothing outrageous
