New Yarmouth Kill Devil 1994
Most tasters land this in the "very good, not the best 94" camp — all the New Yarmouth markers are here: coconut, dried raisins, dark caramel, chocolate and coffee, with a splash of glue on the nose. The point people keep raising is the wood: at 26 years it runs oaky and turns dry and bitter on the finish. Give it time in the glass and the milk chocolate creeps out.

Edit: Tried the last leftovers in the MaiTai (again and again inspired by SaibotZtar), for once not in the CubaLibre. Great mixer!!! In the glass for blind tasting were the following 94s New Yarmouth The preliminary result 1ST RX10164 2. RX12050 3. RX12183 4. RX10531 5. RX16026 6. RX10419 7. RX13113 8. RX10167 9. RX15643 10. RX10204 11. RX12556 12. RX12841 13. RX9617 14. RX1563 15. RX16027 16. RX12161 17. RX13824 18. RX6983 I find it quite tasty when tasted individually. Almost too tasty. I would have expected nothing less from a 94 New Yarmouth. It's simply still my favorite profile. Doesn't have to hide behind its competitors. Still needs a lot of cross-testing. Edit: after I've had it for a while, the milk chocolate is really recognizable in the taste, which is creamy and smooth on the palate. Simply delicious! Corrected upwards because of this.

Relatively discreet NY 94. All the typical markers are present. Caramel, wood, vanilla.

Great New Yarmouth from 1994 with power!
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Great fruity fresh nose, very complex. The taste is slightly minty and chocolaty, as well as lots of dried raisins etc. However, the finish is also quite dry and bitter. The typical coconut note and lots of roasted aromas return at the very end. For me, however, it doesn't quite come close to other 94 New Yarmouth benchmarks, as it is too dry, astringent and not complex enough on the finish. Nevertheless, a really well-rounded 94 NY at a relatively fair RRP!

This is a really nice release. Fruity and chemical nose with some spice and caramel. The palate is intense in a positive way and also fruity with roasted wood, spice, chocolate and light caramel. The finish is long and warm and sticks to the nose and palate. It needs to rest for a good while before revealing all its flavours.

A little harsh on the nose compared to its peers.

Top representative from the 94 vintage with plenty of power on the palate. Sweet, but balanced in its interplay with wood and spiciness. With subtle fruit esters.
Review by Timo Groeger
Wow, this rum is really something. The 26 years are immediately noticeable on the nose. There are also notes of vanilla, caramel and toffee. On the palate, coffee is added for me. This rum is very roasty and also delicious. Thanks to Banana Joe for the delicious sample.

Long finish. Heavy and intense. Bitter and dry but not disturbing for me. I like it really well.

An old New Yarmouth that has retained its sensuality despite its age. The nose is quite peachy, with lively spices (vanilla, pepper, chili, nutmeg), toasty oak well interwoven with the juice and notes of glue and varnish. Chocolate and coffee are matched by pastry notes of butterscotch and toffee, accompanied by coconut and dried fruit (raisin). A powerful, gourmet profile. On the palate, an expressive, lively rum unfolds with countless flavors, from coconut and dried fruit (grape) to caramel and pastries, dark chocolate, coffee, leather, toasted notes, intense woodiness and warm spices (vanilla, chili, pepper, nutmeg). The whole is very tasty, remaining dry but very round, surely due to a slightly lower degree than other New Yarmouth 1994s. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is long, warm and intense. The elegance of the woody notes, the greediness of the spices, chocolate and coffee, the opulence of the coconut and butterscotch, and the darkness of the toasted notes and leather give a subtle, refined profile with character. A very fine selection, which retains its authenticity but remains more affordable than other bottlings of the same profile.

A bitter, woody nose of overripe banana. The palate begins with fruit, but the wood immediately takes over. Bitter wood dominates the fruit. The finish saves this rum a little, as the fruit reappears and lingers on the palate for a while. The empty glass offers other aromas such as vermouth and citrus. While I love old, woody rums, I've reached my limit here. Taste again.

Today a tasting with seven bottlings of the 1994 New Yarmouth: Thompson Brothers, Royal Cane, Kill Devil, Rum Sponge, Ron Artesanal, FRC Bottles Shop and Maolt, Grain & Cane. The Kill Devil scores with beautiful notes of cookie and coconut. Reminds me of a good Foursquare.

Great NY, doesn't have to hide behind the other representatives of this vintage. Almost a must-buy for 240 €. Needs some time, then it unfolds all the typical aromas you would expect from a 94 NY.

New Yarmouth 1994, my favorite. The profile is well known. This time a lot of fruit, wood, not so complex. Craftsmanship impeccable.I like the RA and the Rome Deluxe better.

83 points. Not the best of the 94’s but a good NY nonetheless. All the flavors one expects of a 94 NY are there but there is some bitterness in the finish and I’m taking off a few points for that. Probably one of the 94’s that disappointed me the most but still a good NY.

94 NY Tasting: Kill Devil, S.B.S. and RA. The RA clearly on 1, the Kill Devil on 2 and the S.B.S on 3, whereby the S.B.S due to the low ABV compared to its competitors seems less massive. However, it also has a multi-layered nose.
Review by Basti
Very tasty nose with coconut, dried fruit, caramel, some glue, tropical fruit, spices and a slight sweetness. Intense on the palate with well-integrated alcohol. I like it very much overall.
Review by Serge
Beautiful nose with coconut and fruit. A little too woody and spicy on the palate for me. But of course still at a high NY94 level.
Review by Thunderbird
A very good NY with a pronounced coconut nose... The rum convinces me

Beautifully sweet, creamy, like caramel. A great choice for rum drinkers who want to switch from sweet syrups to pure spirit. New Yarmouth 1994 rarely disappoints. This is a great choice that you will always want to come back to.

Nice & solid NY94 core, but overoaked and bitter on the finish.
Review by F.L.O.
Intense roasted aromas, lots of nuts and wood dominate the nose. The wetness is clearly confirmed in the taste and especially in the finish. The nuts and oak in particular are totally present. Very cool.

Nose: woody, caramel and fruits Palate: chocolate and wood Finish with chocolate too.

1994 New Yarmouth hat einfach herausragende Qualität

New Yarmouth lineup. The nose is nice and round, but compared to Thompson's NY 94 there is no dominant coconut at the start. On the palate, however, there is a lot more raisin and toffee. Nice character and very tasty.

Assaggiato in sample. Rum molto interessante per me. Colore quasi arancione.

Good Column Still Rum, in direct comparison with the Swell de Spirits and Excellence Rhum but rated slightly weaker.
