The Nectar Long Pond The Nectar Of The Daily Drams 2005
"Absolutely delicious rum - lots of funk and fruity notes" is how one member sums it up, and that tracks. This 2005 Long Pond is overripe pineapple and mango, varnish and glue on the nose, then it turns woody, spicy and drier on the palate — menthol and clove creeping in on a long, tannic finish. Tropically aged, well-balanced, and the 55% sits in nicely.

One of my favorite from long Pond and still!! Really funky, fruity from the nose to the finish! I really enjoyed the fanatastic tastes of the oak barrel. For me as a ex carpenter, really impressive. The alcohol is intergrated very well. Nose: ester, funky, delicious, pineapple, coconut, overripe fruits, peaches, banana, varnish, nutty, almond, treacle, sweet, toffee, woody Mouth: dry, astringend, balanced, complex, funky, menthol, tannins, roasted, spicy, some ginger notes, amazing oak(barrel), almond, vanilla, pineapple, peaches, coconut, banana, dried apricot, burnt sugar, minty Finish: medium long, dry, astrigend, delicious, tannins, bitter, oak(woody), mocha, peaches, pineapple

Bright, fruity nose with lots of marzipan. Really inviting. A great, creamy mouthfeel on the palate. Pleasant, dry finish. Excellent Long Pond!

A nose with varnish, funk and overripe fruit, lots of overripe fruit, tropical fruit and yellow fruit. The palate is surprisingly smooth, much more balanced than the nose: wood - fruit - varnish - roasted and spicy play the same score. There's a hint of bitter cherry on the finish, which is moderately long and includes all the flavors of the mouth. A very fine rum, complex and balanced.

The nose promises a little more funk than is then actually apparent on the palate - but that does not mean that there is not enough Jamaica in the bottle here. While the nose is still very fresh, the influences of storage become more pronounced in the mouth.

Once again a 2005 LP and for me once again a direct hit. Reminded me directly of The Whisky Blues LP2005 when I first "sniffed" it. Lots of tropical fruit, especially mango, some glue, esters and various spices. Pretty much the same on the palate, a good mix of fruity flavors, spices and some wood. Unfortunately, there is no precise information on pith, tropical and continental maturation. After tasting it, I'm pretty sure that this is also a partially tropically matured (that much is known) VRW, due to the similarity to the other 2005 VRWs. I like the bottling very much :)

Another great rum from Long Pond and the funk is there from opening the bottle. I could actually pick up the funky fruits across the table. A very well balanced and complex rum and they did a super finish on it without hiding the Long Pond flavours. What I like about these rums is the high overall quality and the pricing that makes it affordable to most who'd like a good rum.

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get are very pleasant sweet notes of tropical, yellow fruits, toasted coconut and roasted wood with nuts and caramel. This is a low esters rum, with solvents not too strong. On aeration it becomes more round and creamy with bourbon notes, fruits are overripe, the caramel is candied, there are coconut biscuits and the molasses is vegetal. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is buttery and at first spicy with pepper, there are tasty tropical fruits and berries, perhaps currants. The coconut is toasted, the wood roasted, after airing even resinous and tannic, waxy and bitter with some menthol.Creamy vanilla, banana and mango neutralize bitterness, balance our tasting, later some bourbon notes join in.Molasses is flowing underneath... 8,3:The finish is long, dry, a bit imbalanced, more bitter, vegetal, as the fruits are now dried, some pineapple and peach stay, the wood is peppery and with caramel. Edit:16.2.25 Still tasty

Amazingly good Long Pond! He tastes similar to the NRJ, would have to be tropically stored, goes in right Vale Royal / Cambridge. unfortunately somewhat diluted, but really good!

Very very tasty just a really round Long Pond.

In the nose ester, fruit and funk... surprisingly on the palate then quite mature and mature! More on the woody and spicy side! Delicious

Simply delightful. Amazing dept in the nose, lovelely influences of the wood on the palate and something sweet and sour in the finish. I enjoyed every drop of it. Tempted to buy a bottle.

Wahouuuu it's delicious 😋 A lovely basket of fruit, solvent, lovely oak, remarkable complexity and a long finish. Lots of sweetness and well-integrated alcohol.

03/05/25: tasted at a local spirits shop. Overall, a good rum which I enjoyed sipping but for me not what I look for in Long Pond. I'm looking for the more punchy, higher ester profiles like in the Velier Cambridges or TECA's. Still quality rum though.

Great nose and then very spicy on the palate. A bit too peppery for me. I like the nose much better than the palate. Tropically matured?

Very nice Long Pond. More esters on the nose than on the palate. Tastes very adult and super matured.
