HSE Extra Vieux Small Cask 2014
Opinions land here: some tasters find it well-balanced with dried plum, warm spice and a Christmassy cinnamon edge, while others call it a little thin and short on character. It's a dry, fairly woody agricole from cane juice, cask-marked but still young. The nose leans on candied fruit; the palate turns spicy and oaky, sometimes losing the fruit along the way.

Dry and quite woody Agricole with beautiful Christmas notes (including cinnamon)
Review by Julien Jean'Mich
The nose is clearly focused on candied fruits such as prunes, but also a little vanilla and sweet spices that come a little later. The palate is dry and mellows after a few seconds, with spices and wood coming to the fore. The finish is moderately long but very pleasant, with the woodiness lingering in the mouth. A rum I recommend for its very good value for money, hse offers us a fine experience both on the nose and on the palate. Leave to rest in the glass for a while for the best experience. Once the glass is empty, it gives off a sublime aroma for a long time to come.
Review by Benoit Mahe
A fairly young rum, but well marked by the cask. The profile is very spicy. The fruit on the nose is not present on the palate, which is a pity, as it lacks a little of the gourmandise. The texture is pleasant.

Tasted at the 11th GRF: More exciting than, for example, the XO and quite drinkable. For me, however, is also missing here a unique selling proposition or something character that sets it apart from the mass of Agricoles!
Review by TheRhumhoe
A small cask with selective but concentrated aromas. Notes of fruit and dried fruit blend well with spices and chocolate. This greediness continues on the palate with notes of plums. The finish remains selective in aroma but intense on the palate. A fine success for a relatively young profile.

Auf dem 13. GRF probiert. Hat mir gut gefallen. Klassische Agricole Noten mit einer guten Spur Fasseinfluss. Sehr ausbalanciert. Konnte von der Intensität und Komplexität nicht ganz mit der RX20256 mithalten.

Tasted at the 11th GRF: better than the standard XO. More body, more aromas. Still couldn't convince me.

Schooner relaxed HSE. Lacks a bit of power.

This is an OK rum is just think it comes off a bit thin/diluted. Would have loved some more umpf.

On the GRF11 three rum from HSE tasted against each other! Craft they are all well done, but for me personally they are all too flat and little expressive!
