Day 6 of the Samples de Luxe calendar and tasted again a year and a half later. A Jamaican nose, but not from Hampden. Yellow fruits, apple and quince and bitterness. Very nice but rather one-sided. Alcohol very well integrated. A lively mouthfeel! A cellar of pome fruits. Woody but not too woody. A rather long, balanced finish. A pleasure, even if the complexity and depth are not really there. Tasted again and a little less complex than other Clarendons.

Dried fruit, pleasantly woody, baking spice and roasted aromas. A good profile. I also like this Clarendon from Corman Collins at the second tasting. Unfortunately, the price is very steep.

Unconventional profile on the nose. Great in the mouth. Spreads like an explosion in the mouth but somewhat astringent. Lots of fruit, cherry, banana, sherry. Long finish. The only thing I don't like is the slight soapy notes.

Another great Jamaican. This one is strong on the wood without being super dominant and on top of that you have fruit and spices, some pastries and lovely marzipan. Price to quality at release is pretty good in my mind.

Beautiful Clarendon from Corman Collins. The nose is balanced and complex. It oscillates between fruit (pineapple, banana, raisin, cherry), spicy wood and pastry (vanilla, baked apple, pepper, almond and caramel) and medicinal notes. There's also a lovely, well-structured and pleasant harmony on the nose. On the palate, it's dry, very fruity (exotic fruit, cherry, dried fruit) and the wood has left its mark. There's a lovely spicy profile of aniseed, licorice and pepper, all adding a certain elegance. Behind this lies a bitterness on leather and coffee, as well as some roasted notes. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish lingers on bitterness, wood, spices, chocolate, dried fruit and cherry. A Clarendon that's off the beaten track, with an original, tasty and controlled profile.

Clarendon as it is written in the book. Intense notes of overripe fermented pineapple, papaya and banana, camphor and black pepper, some coffee and star anise, as well as intense tannins and oak notes. The alcohol is extremely well integrated and the finish is unusually long... Great bottling!

Am somewhat torn - in itself an exciting rum, beautiful complexity and quite a full bouquet. Somehow, however, the impression remains that nevertheless something is missing and the rum therefore seems unfinished - for me should be a little more fruit on the palate. A potential splitter, but you should definitely have tried.

Before describing the rum, I should mention how cool the label is once again from Corman Collins. Excellent Clarendon with a very well-balanced and intense nose. The palate is unfortunately a bit too bitter for my liking despite a fantastic reduction. Still a very good rum overall.

One of the best nose, explosion of fruit (Jamaica style) with a super elegant woody. It makes you travel, it goes from the fruit, to the wood, to the solvent and takes us to all sides. The mouth is in 2 parts, first an explosion of fruit worthy of the nose, then it calms down and comes back with a lot of black tea/coffee style roasting. The finish remains bitter with a hint of fruitiness.

Alcohol integrated very well, a Marsala/sherry note stands out on the nose which then turns into hints of black cherry, plum and red fruits in the mouth! Elegant finish, a great Jamaican rum although I was expecting a little more drive on the nose!
