A very nice, balanced aroma, dried fruits, honey, caramel, on the palate with moderate but clearly noticeable sweetness, nice fruitiness, and a harmonious, intense, spicy cask influence. Overall relatively smooth, but quite good not just for the price.

#6454 08.03.2026 Time to run through the samples I brought home from Whiskymessen in Kolding yesterday. Like most of these releases, this one is also sweet. This one is spicier and has light sugarcane notes. Sweet but spicy on the finish.

The Dominican Republic fills two thirds of Hispaniola, the island Columbus reached in 1492, sharing it with Haiti. Spain actually banned rum here from 1720 to 1778, one of only two Caribbean territories ever to do so. Dominican rum is about maturation, not the spirit.
