Rum Artesanal is the rum arm of Heinz Eggert GmbH, a German bottler that selects individual casks and characterful blends rather than distilling its own spirit. The house rule is transparency: every bottling is non-chill-filtered and free of coloring, so what reaches the glass is what sat in the barrel.

The lineup runs on two tracks. The Core Range keeps things approachable and affordable, pulling from Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Venezuela and the French Antilles for everyday drinking. The Single Cask line is the collector’s territory: limited, cask-strength bottlings with visible age, including stock from Guyana, Haiti, Australia, Trinidad and shuttered distilleries. The Caribbean Island Rum blends Jamaican pot still, Rhum Agricole and Dominican solera with a nine-month sherry finish, and took bronze at the 2019 German Rum Awards.

Flavor depends heavily on origin. The New Yarmouth Jamaicans lean into caramel, cookie dough and light coconut with restrained esters. The Clarendon EMB bottlings are drier and funkier, all glue, tropical fruit and roasted wood. The Guyana REV shows plum, cedar, licorice and dark chocolate, while the Trinidad TDL is famous here for its wall of mint and menthol.
