Foursquare sits on the south coast of Barbados, and under owner-distiller Richard Seale it has become the reference point for transparent, additive-free Bajan rum. The house line most RumX members chase is the Exceptional Cask Selection, a numbered series that has grown to include vintages like the 2005, 2007 and 2009 alongside named editions such as Nobiliary, Redoutable, Shibboleth, Sovereignty, Détente, Indelible and the recent, notably dark Equidem.

Production is a blend of pot and column distillate, aged tropically in ex-bourbon barrels. Where the ECS bottlings diverge is the finish: sherry casks on Sovereignty push it darker and fruitier, port on Détente adds red-fruit roundness, Madeira on Redoutable brings intensity, and Zinfandel on Indelible layers in cinnamon and tannin. Doorly’s and other lines share the same DNA at gentler strengths.

The core taste is consistent — vanilla, toasted coconut, caramel and butterscotch on the nose, then oak, dark chocolate, coffee, tobacco and dried fruit on a dry, spicy palate.
