Braud & Quennesson is one of the newer names on the Martinique map, built on the terroir of a sugarcane estate near Le Marin whose sugar history reaches back to 1866. The family relaunched the project in 2018 and opened the Habitation Grand Fonds at the end of 2022, an estate marked by its avenue of royal palms and around 30 hectares of high-Brix cane.

Distillation runs at Le Simon, which keeps the production inside the AOC Martinique and its traceability rules. The current catalogue leans heavily on white rum, released at several strengths from roughly 50% up to 59.2%, plus parcel-specific bottlings such as the L319-52, which gets a short stainless-steel rest with micro-aeration. Beyond the blancs there is the Rhum Élevé Sous Bois Signature du Chai, a young lightly wooded expression, and small cuvées like the Cuvée Transquadra and Imperium Caraïbes aimed at cigar pairing.

The blancs taste of fresh-cut cane, lime and grapefruit, white flowers, green pepper and a saline, herbal edge, with an oily texture and a dry, peppery finish. Reviewers often note a rounder, sweeter cane than many neighbours, and consistently say the higher-proof versions carry the aromatics best. The ESB adds cinnamon, vanilla, toasted sugar and a touch of honey over that agricole base, though some find the wood and spice heavy for its age.

The obvious use is Ti-punch, where the fresh cane and citrus do the heavy lifting, and the stronger blancs also hold up neat for slow sipping.
