Bacardi traces back to 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, where Facundo Bacardi refined a lighter, cleaner style of rum. After the family left Cuba, production shifted mainly to Puerto Rico, and the brand grew into one of the largest spirits companies in the world. That scale shapes the rum: high-proof column distillation, charcoal filtration and blending aimed at consistency rather than terroir.

The core range is broad. Carta Blanca is the flagship white, lightly aged then filtered clear; Carta Oro and Carta Negra add color and a touch more body. Above them sit the age-stated rums: Cuatro (4 years), Reserva Ocho (8 years) and Gran Reserva Diez (10 years), plus spiced options like Oakheart and Carta Fuego.
